Every once in a while i go over to Darkhorizons.com to check out whats going on with movies. I noticed this:

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news05/050329c.php

which says that in spiderman 3 the villian will be The Sandman. Now is it just me or does that sound pretty fucking lame? I hope it's either not true or that maybe the sandman is just an auxillery villian.

The character was a prison escapee hiding out at an atomic testing facility when a explosion goes off. His molecules fuse with sand, giving him essentially shape shifting ability along with various other skills.
So it's not the Sandman as we think, or as I assume you do (sandman as in the ruler of nightmares and dreams).

In James Cameron's original Spider-Man script, Electro was the villain and Sandman was his henchman.

His molecules fuse with sand, giving him essentially shape shifting ability along with various other skills.

... First Aid, Barter and Outdoorsman.

Oh man, you guys... go read the Spiderman comics or the Fox SPiderman cartoon. You'll see who the Sandman is... he's crazy dangerous.

Sandman was mostly lame because he was never written as dangerous as he could/should have been, except maybe in his very first appearance (go Lee/Ditko). As someone said, he doesn't fight like a guy who can turn into sand, he fights like a guy who can make his hands really big.

Don't they justify that by him being just a common thug before he became Sandman? Neither very smart nor imaginative, which gets reflected in his pretty poor use of his powers.

All signs point to Venom. But there will be multiple villains.

Also, there are some rumors that Black Cat will be involved. Possible spinoff?

Maybe he'll turn into an hour glass and flip twice, that would be an awesome movie..........

Mohrg

Venom would suck because Eddie Brock hasn't been developed at all yet. Unless the movie ends like Matrix Reloaded, I don't see how they can pull off Venom decently (and if they do end it like Matrix Reloaded, I don't see how they can pull off the movie decently).

Ok, here's Venom's agenda for everyday:

1. Sling around New York, maybe save some people.

2. Eat Spider-Man's brains.

Wow. What a villain.

They can develop Venom in a 2/2.5 hour movie at least. If they don't have Venom I'm going to be PO'd.

How would they explain the suit/symbiote thought without drastically changing things though? I don't think they can sum up the whole Secret Wars thing without being completely cheesy, and inventing an alternate origin would be kind of stupid. The spiderman movies have been fairly faithful to the source material so far, and I'd really hate to have them veer wildly off track.
