Stalker Clear Sky, Fallout 3, or Far Cry 2...

It Wandered In From the Wastes
Out of these 3 games which one would you purchase?

Stalker Clear Sky: I really liked STALKER, but it was buggy as hell and felt too constricted. It had great atmosphere and Clear Sky is also alot cheaper than the other two. Does anyone know if the AI is improved in Clear Sky?

Fallout 3: I already know many of your opinions about this, and I share them. I have already accepted the fact that it will be an action-rpg hybrid and that it won't be nearly as deep as previous entries in the series.

Far Cry 2: This game just reminds me of a Rambo movie every time I watch the clips, and that definitely appeals to me. The way the health system works (performing self surgery) and the open free world to explore looks like alot of fun. However I hear the game doesn't have alot of variety and that gets old quickly.

The reason I ask is because I know how many members of this forum feel about Fallout 3, and it was the game I was mostly looking forward too out of all 3 of these. However I hated Oblivion and frankly, Fallout 3 looks terrible from what I have seen.

the ai is improved in stalker:cs. strangely, this improvement has been made years ago for the original stalker. i heartily recommend the "oblivion lost"-modification by kanyhalos, which makes stalker:shoc much more entertaining: http://stalker.filefront.com . save your money and spend it on hookers instead.

I installed Oblivion Lost and I have noticed the game is overall much more unpredictable, but the AI is still a little funky.

earlier today when I was playing it, I was stumbling back to the main 'loner' camp in cordell after a blowout and noticed everyone was fighting with the military guards. It was awesome and I was getting in on the fight but then I noticed every single guy in the camp stacked up against the same fence in the camp and they all got killed by a grenade! :?

I was actually hoping Clear Sky had improved AI over the Oblivion Lost mod

that i have seen happening in stalker cs once or twice. normally (as it is in shoc with OL mod) people start running like hell when a grenade is thrown if they dont get stuck on invisible obstacles; even the thrower scrambles away... but it seems there are a lot less "invisible walls" in cs.

Less 'invisible wall' type of shit does sounds good to me. Clear Sky will probably run alot better on my PC than the other two.

Far cry 2 is nothing like the clips. Fallout 3 is loooooong and very slow at the start, if you're into that kind of game. Might be worth waiting for the PC version though.

I've never played Stalker Clear sky, but as it is now I would go for that one.

So wait for Fallout 3 to hit PCs, and make a decision then. Don't go for Far cry 2 though, unless you play main quests only, in which case it's an ok game (same could be said for Fallout 3, the sidequests are mostly Morrowind-esque "fetch me that gizmo in that ghoul-infested place on the other side of the map").

I would avoid Clear Sky at all costs. While the atmosphere is fantastic, the game itself is really shallow imo and has unbearable technical flaws. Bought it but I can't even play it anymore because I hate it SO MUCH.

I recommend buying ALL THREE of them.

I am playing FarCry 2 right now - it absolutely kicks ass. Your "this is rambo" sentiments are correct, this game is gritty, brutal and absolutely fucking awesome. 12 hours into it and I love it more and more.

STALKER CS - I played this for a short while (about and hour) and I liked it. But I postponed playing it for the time there will be more patches and all the bugs are fixed. But I have no doubt it will be worth playing.

Fallout 3 - I liked Oblivion (not loved, like Fallout, but liked), and this seems to have my major gripes with Oblivion fixed (like level scaling).

Its a tough choice, so I would really go with all of them. Maybe pick them up later for lesser price, but buy them . ).

So Clear Sky is really that buggy eh? I hate to hear that but it doesn't surprise me. It just disappoints me.

Well Far Cry 2 runs and looks on mine WAY better then Clear Sky. I'm talking about max settings here, story may be different on lower settings.
But Clear Sky has a much better atmosphere. Still like Paul_cz, I postponed playing it till some more patching and maybe modding is done to it, just so I could get more fun out of it.

The AI in Clear Sky is significantly improved. And they use grenades.

You will hate grenades.

They use grenades in Shoc - Oblivion Lost too. And even without grenade indicators, I find those grenades to be much less annoying in OL.

I would not say better, but different. I love derelict post-apo atmosphere of Stalker, but I also love lushness of africa jungles combined with dryness of savanahs, deserts, shantytowns...plus the lightning effects are really great in FC2 too, beautiful sunsets : ).

Damn, I love these openworld games taking place in real locations, FUCK Gears of War and similar bullshits.

You *could* buy Fallout 3, it sounds the most reasonable of the three.

But why would you do that? I mean, all of those titles are failed sandbox games with shitty AI and major gameplay problems (AND they're a pain in the ass when it comes to hardware requirements).

My advice - wait for Call of Duty 5.

there are a bunch of threads floating around nma regarding clear sky. some of them contain extremely valuable informations* regarding bugs and their solution.

*- all done by me, sometimes under different aliases. cheers!

You have GOT to be shitting me. So you would rather recommend just another generic shitty on rails shooter from WW2 (and not even from Infinity Ward) than three awesome open world games? Fuck your taste in games, sir.

improved AI in clear sky? no way. the AI is just seriously unbalanced which is the main reason for the game being so hard. when you get killed time and time again from grenades thrown with pin-point accuracy at incredible distances from enemies that in now way could have seen you, you will see what i mean. and forget cover, since even a one foot strong concrete wall will not protect you from grenades that detonate on the other side.

and don't even get me started on the rest.

i mean, the atmosphere is great, i actually enjoyed roaming the zone more than i did in SHOC, but there a so many things that are broken with this game.
