I've been cruisin' the "info super highway" for a few years, and recently have decided to try my hand at starting a web page. Is there anywhere to go online that has some sort of help guide for newbies? kind of a "web page for dummies", but more along the lines of "web page for dummies that don't want to get off their asses and buy that damned book".

Buy a web-design book. They show you how to make the webpage and techniques for making it look good!

I know this already and don't own a book... It's not hard to piece together code.

For me, HTML 4 for Dummies was a lot more informative than a lot of websites I found. To be honest, though, you still need to find some good web references because no book I've seen explains [em]everything[/em] well.

Hard to piece together code? No. Piece together code and make it look good? Yes.

I mean, I can piece together a website using basic tags and all that. Hell, I could probably make it look somewhat good, but that's after years of practice.

It is also a good idea to get a good web design program like Dreamweaver 4. It is invaluable if you want to speed up the creation of even basic sites.
