Alright after a long and grueling search of this forum to find a solution to my problem and trying every solution under the sun I STILL haven't fixed the music in both fallout 1 and 2(both have the highest official patches). I get no music at all not even ambient BG sounds. No travel map music, nothing. I've tried the solution I saw in your sticky(the one about checking where the main file looked for the music files) the DIR was perfect so it's not that. I get sounds in everything else just not the music or ambient.
This is driving me insane I've tried Virtual PC with Win98 but the game won't even run properly I did get it to run for a minute and the music was working so the only thing left I can think of is my comp is too fast( 2.5ghz dual core, 4gb ram, XP prof 64bit, 752mb video card). I've already tried slowing my PC with programs and setting cpu affinity and that had no effect.
Is there anything I can do to get the music running again?
*Edit*
This problem only seems to persist with the Fallout Trilogy pack sold in Canada, since I have both the old copies and the new trilogy(Don't ask) I tried the old ones and the sound/music works just fine. Now I'm infuriated with Interplay because they released a broken product(tactics is missing sound files; however, both 1&2 are not). The question still stands however as I have friends who bought the trilogy and are experiencing the same problem.
Sorry for the verbose post and thanks in advance, Hogan.
