Storytelling competition.

Still Mildly Glowing
I'm holding a storytelling competition, this is the first in a series (provided it gets enough interest), and as this one has apocalyptic themes, I thought I'd mention it here...

Hairy-Barbarian is having its first storytelling competition!

Here's how it goes: we give you a short synopsis and you send in a story you've written, loosely based on that synopsis. Simple as that. All entries must be sent in by the 1st of August 2006, the winner(s) will be announced shortly after. Stories must be a at least 1 000, but no more than 10 000 words.

The winner(s) will receive a digital trophy that they can proudly place on their website or blog, and have their works posted on www.Hairy-Barbarian.com in a purpose made "story gallery".

We request that you use the Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 License or the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5 License please be specific what you have chosen when you make your submission.

Works can be posted in the Hairy-Barbarian forums, or sent too storyteller@hairy-barbarian.com Please provide an email address with all forum submissions so that we can contact you should you win.

The rather brief, and rather clichéd synopsis for your original work:

The hero (or anti-hero) of your story emerges from some sort of time capsule (stasis, an underground vault, a magic sleep, whatever fits!) and is confronted by a land that has changed beyond recognition whilst they have been "away". They travel a short way and find some sort of a settlement, they spend some time trying to settle in, but are rejected by the population. The locals force them out of the settlement and they find themselves wandering a wasteland.

There should be some sort of a "message" or moral to your story.

We hope to recieve your submission soon :-)!

The point is, I'm giving out a cliché plot, and you have to make something original out of it. It adds to the difficulty, and hopefully makes for some more interesting reads.

Does it really have to end ala. they find themselves wandering a wasteland , can't he just, like die of. Cause I have a storry like this already :look: but you might not have read it yet.

Jarno, that doesn't have to be the end... the story can continue even though the synopsis stopped there. Remember, you do have to follow the synopsis, but only loosely.

Mayble good histories can come up with that...At least i hope so,its gonna be good to read new fan fiction, nma section is mostly made by fan art.I really mis fan fic...

This is not exactly designed for fan-fic. It is designed for more original stories, but fan fic and FallOut related stories will be gladly accepted in the competition. The winner will be the one which the judges think is best written, based on a variety of points, so fan fiction does have a chance.

If anyone is interested: The storywriting competition was a bit of a flop. We only had one entry... doomed to failure I guess... none of my projects work out right.

Buck Rogers is going to became captain Walker and save the kids or he is going to find his lost love and start to age quickly? Anyway the rupture looks interesting and promising. Keep the good work and try to explore something more original.

Thats not my story, it is the story of (name removed by request), somebody who I do not believe knows about this thread.

If a lot of comments are posted about it then I will forward them to the author.

Hi, geekoftexas, and welcome to NMA, glad you could find us. We hope you can stay with us and contribute to our Fan Fiction section, but there's one thing I should warn you about; we look down on double posting here since we have an edit button to be used instead when adding new stuff to a post.
