Strange exploding death for no reason

Hello

I'm having a problem with Fallout 2 and I wondered if anyone here could help me.

I'm in New Reno shooting the salvatores and all looks to be going well, but when I load any saved game from after the fight I just die!
My character just colapses in a bloody mess for no reason a few seconds after loading the game.

Any ideas?

Spontaneous combustion.

Your character doesn't fart enough. You have to make him fart every once in a while, if not he just melts or explodes from it.
 
You've fallen foul of the dreaded Cheezy Poofs/Nuka-Cola combo. If you eat too many Cheezy Poofs and then have a soda, all the poofs will simultaneously fizzle and expand, making you explode.
 
Hey Garfy, welcome to NMA

I´m afraid I have never heard of such a problem before. You might wanna check if you have the latest(1.02) patch installed, and try loading an earlier savegame.
 
Tried the fight for a third time, didn't explode this time round.

Unless you have not been using Super Stimpacks, which may kill you off as an after-effect if you're very low on health, I don't know what the issue might be.
 
Maybe you stand near any timed explosives or put timed explosives on someone near you?
 
You allowed yourself to get injected with Blood Combustion Nanites. There are these special geckos with a slightly different animation...

Somewhat seriously, did you get hit for 400 points of damage or thereabouts? If so I probably know what bug causes it, although I don't know exactly what triggered it or how to save your character in that case. You could always try reverting to an earlier save.

Thanks for all the advice. I went back to an earlier save and it hasn't happened again so far.

Sometimes it did say that I'd taken over 200 points of damage sometimes it didn't, anyway if it happens again I'll let you know.
