Strength

First time out of the vault
What i'm i saying bodybuilding . ( i hear you whinen ). But think about it why would strenght be stunned. Ok maybe operations, but isn't it more realistic to just pick up a stone and lift it :) ,but weights should also be placed in the game. And make it realistic as hell .
For all you bodybuilders out there ,they will know what i mean.
And bare with me a sec. When i mean realistic i mean that you need to sleep at least 8 hours to function normally in fallout world , nutrition , training . SO EVERYTHING. HEHE .

Yes. Lifting stones. Great. Welcome to the world of performing tedious repetitive tasks to increase your skills a.k.a. Morrowind.

It's just a game, please.

On the other hand it'd be cool to have an option to lift weights, even a stone, in a place or two in the game, but only a limited one.

For example, if you started out in the wasteland, you could optionally lift weights in the beginnig to bolster your stat a point or two, but not mandatory.

Think Heimdall and how your performance in the mini-game at the start affected your starting skills.

Yes, having to bodybuild/sleep/worry about proper nutrition would make the game more realistic. However, I for one do not wish to micromanage my character's health and sleeping patterns.

And if weight training was applied to the game, wouldn't that mean that you could theoretically start the game with low ST, then increase it to a high value later? That would be along the same lines as the "free" stat points provided by taking the Gifted trait, and would make strength even more worthless at allocation than it already is. In F2, you could take 5 ST at the beginning and have 10 by the end of the game. What reason is there to decrease ST's value even further?

I suppose Silencer's idea could work, having a small weight-lifting element where you could increase your strength slightly, I mean. It would make more sense than the operations in F1 and the modules in F2.

There's a place for realism in Fallout, but I don't believe this is it.

Hehe.

How boring.

As Siley pointed out, Morrowind's in-game, constant system of building up basic things such as movement or stamina sucked. Bigtime.
You started as a wimp that walked slower than a stoned rastafarian and became Flash in the late stages of the game.

'Sides. Nothing says "Fallout" more than lifting stones in the wasteland. No doubt about that.

What you might be looking for might be a "How to get stung by a scorpion" simulator.

What is it with these morons and "realistic"?

What part of "alternate universe timeline P&P CRPG as depicted by a 50's style science-fiction author" is so fucking hard for people to understand?

Go back to GT A: SA if that's what you want, folks.

(EDIT: Sorry, had to make a correction, good spotting.) :)

Whoa, Rosh, didn't they have body building in the fifties? At least he doesn't want "realistic" weapons :)

Why does everyone keep on forgetting that a game is supposed to be fun? Realism is only needed if the lack thereof makes the game less fun.

Come on, nothing says "Fallout" like taking a shit in a post-nuclear desert.

Personally I meant realism having a place such as not being able to attack someone at point-blank range with a minigun, and no instances of weapons that are ineffective against armored foes in the first place magically becoming effective when a critical hit is landed. It doesn't make much sense that a tribal with a zip gun has the possibility of landing an instant kill critical on a person in power armor... it's just frustrating when something like that happens. I don't mean getting rid of criticals from targeted shots, most of the time those make sense.

I don't want anything resembling a "wasteland life simulation", that would most likely be boring as hell.
I also don't agree with the never-ending parade of idiots who want sci-fi weapons and armor and (insert item here) removed because they're (it's) not "realistic" enough.

Er... yes. Back on topic. Repetitious Morrowind-esque stat increasing system= bad, F1/2's method=good.

As far as realism goes, I'd very much like if higher difficulties required the player to manage food and water supply. The system should be similar to the one featured in Betrayal at Krondor - characters use food and water for healing automatically while they rest, and if they don't have any, resting doesn't restore hit points. It would add another challenging gameplay element without being overly boring or inconvenient. I believe that has been discussed before.

But weight lifting? Nonsense. Fallout is supposed to convey a P&P RPG feel, and I don't recall participating in any roleplaying sessions where players sat around while their imaginary characters lifted chunks of iron attached to a pole. That kind of shit belongs in GTA, TES or a BioWare game, not Fallout.

The reason I see it not working is because Fallout has a very narrow band of stat ranges. 1 is suck and 10 is god-like. That is pretty narrow, as RPGs go. If there were fractionals (like the old AD&D 18/00 figure, but nowhere near as complex ) for strength, like say you have 6.17, it could work. A little weight-lifting could get you to, say, 6.5. But there are not fractionals, and I don't think adding a fractional to one stat fits very well.

Perhaps a hidden physical excercise counter (like in GTA3) that measures how much you carry, how much you fight physically, etc and pays off with a few pounds of carry weight to reflect your activities. But I do NOT want to see some silly "Grind-at-this-USERBOY" task to boost a stat so that anyone who cares to click on something 10,000 times is rewarded with a stat point.

It all boils down to Stat points in Fallout being just too valuable for this kind of thing.

Ok maybe my idea was smart. And my point wasn't so much into realistic as cool. And who says that repetitions aren't cool look at "making love" (reason is why i did this because i didn't read the rules, maybe I should) .Ok my point is. Everything takes time. And if fallout is fun for you ,then you are fallout fan ,but there are other people who are called fallout FREAKS. Thats ME. Every motion of the weight would be satisfactional. And of course i am a freak in bodybuilding. And the thing that freaks do they mix real life with games.
But it wouldn't be that easy to increase your strenght even by one lol man you would brake some serious sweat. But the point is realistic isn't always more fun but realistic is more REALISTIC. I am not talking about guns. Everything is possible , but most off the games you don't have primary things like you don't drink water in 13 years .Hmm.
And what im i also saying that there should be more time precious system > Bare with me a second->A day should be almost like a day ,so you couldn't sleep for a year, you would use the day to its fullest-but this would be too hardcore. But you should eat. Wouldn't the day be more FALLOUT type if you would eat some shit then get poisoned, then you would sh** and guess what you sat on a cactus or poisoned ivy. Maybe i am asking too much .But what would the games be like if they would stay on same level as space invaders.

WHAT?

I mean, seriously, please explain what the hell that means. The rest I could sort of coax and judo grip into some form of meaning, but what the hell is a comparison between Fallout and Space Invaders doing in your nonsense post?

{Ok for the unfortunate part of the members (too high iq)}<-(sorry but i did not want to delete this so people see what Im i speaking in my future posts.
Space invaders is a first game i think. Don't hold me on this. It was a good for its time but it isn't anymore. We evolve so wishing for something is not so bad. Look at the games today a marvel. And to Kotario English is not my first language. I am a newbie poster and i am glad to accept every constructive criticism. Take care.

(If you learn to form one sentence just one in Croational, and i am not saying just copy and paste it,then only then you talk to me)
Ok so this sentence is an example of some king of frustration but it is not so justified because ,for example i don't know albanian or greece so why should other know to speak Croational.

We'd tremble and fear at the sight of THREE different types of mutants!

Why? The fact that I don't attempt to write in languages I don't understand is enough. Instead of making an ass of myself in Finnish or Hungarian, I stick to languages I am fluent in.

Neither can you hide behind "English isn't my first language" as an excuse for your stupidity. That has very little to do with spelling "cool" as "kewl," I'm afraid. Even things like your complete ignorance on spacing at the end of sentences could be corrected relatively easily by looking at examples, such as any other member's posts in this thread. If I thought ignorance was the problem, which I rather doubt. I rather think it is laziness, along with the haphazard capitalization.

You seem to have the basics of the English language understood. Rather, laziness and stupidity on your part turns your posts into an unreadable mess.

English isn't my first language either. So what?

Not speaking a language fluently is not an excuse to adhere to the general norms of readability. If your grammar sucks, that's one thing. If you can't type and don't bother to fix it, can't be arsed to put a space after a period and use a linebreak every now and then, that's not because you suck at the language, that's because you don't give a fuck -- and if you don't give a fuck to make it easier for people to understand you, people won't give a fuck about what you are trying to say.

Unless you can show me evidence you're native in some weird language that doesn't use punctuation, capitalisation or line breaks at all, you're just a lazy bastard.

If you talk AOLese on #hawtgrrrls, that's your thing, but in here we talk English.

If you learn to form one sentence just one in Croational, and i am not saying just copy and paste it,then only then you talk to me.
This is an English speaking forum, you fool. Kotario isn't expected to speak fluent "Croational" here, but *you* are expected to speak something that at least resembles fluent English, unless you want everyone to think you are retarded.

One more thing: from your (horrendously written) post I have deducted you are from Croatia. Being Croatian myself, I find it hard to believe that you managed to graduate from our schools (and I may be going out on a limb by assuming you finished at least elementary school) with such a laughable grasp of English grammar and spelling. Therefore, the only possible explanation is that you are just lazy and careless - a trait we don't appreciate nor tolerate in our members. So either put some effort in your writing or enroll in an evening course in English, because nobody will take you seriously if you sound like a bloody imbecile. Of course, not even improvement in your writing skills can change the fact that your weight-lifting idea is utterly inane and a display of your ignorance on basics of pencil & paper roleplaying.

Ok. I see that my post didn't turn out to be such a good idea. Yes I agree that post should be readable :D . I am sad that I was displayed myself as ass .And i apologize for my behavior and mainly to Kotario who I insulted.
So in the spirit of this community I will rewrite my post to a readable format. But after some time I hope you will see that i am not such a bad guy :)
