I killed the Master, then I realized I had to destroy the Military Base too. But I can't lower those damn yellow barriers. I already used the gambling check and the Science skill on the non-mach IV computer, but then I had to fight and the barriers come back. I can't use Science on that computer anymore. Is there any other way to lower the barriers?

Now, about those force fields... make sure you have a radio in your inventory and go back to the bank of computers on level 1 where you used the "Blackjack" hack to gain access. Right-click and hold to bring up the "Use Inventory Item On" tooltip, and use the radio on the forcefield control computer.
Once you've done this, you'll be able to equip the radio in one of your active item slots and click it to toggle all yellow force fields on and off. Hope that helps.

You don't equip it. You right-click until the cursor becomes the "Use/Action" arrow, and then hold down left-click over the computer until you see an icon list pop up. Scroll down to the icon that looks like a pack and then release the left mouse button. This allows you to use inventory items on people and objects in the game without opening your inventory.
Put the radio back into your inventory (remove it from your active item slot) and then "use" it on the computer that way.
(On that note, if you weren't familiar with the left-click-hold dropdown menu, I'd strongly recommend playing around with it a bit. It provides quick access to your items and skills as well as a number of other neat little tricks, and it's one of the most useful interface features in the game.)
