Stumped on part 2

I've obtained and delivered that water chip. Already done a number of other side quests in Shady Sands, Junktown, Hub, and Boneyard. But I still can't figure out how to make progress on the 2nd part of main quest: Find mutant leader and destroy source.

have you searched all the map locations?

read all of your holodics for clues


maybe do some side quests to start with (maybe try the "quest" for the BoS?)

Talk to prominent citizens of the Hub or the Boneyard to learn of locations of interest.

Well I already acquired that Brotherhood of Steel quest that involves getting something from somewhere down south. I presume they mean the Glow because I know of no other places to the south they could be referring to. Unfortunately I don't know how to enter the Glow. I see this big crater and I can't "use" a rope on it or anything.

I've talked to people at the church place south of Boneyard, but the folks there don't seem to like me.

And so far, I have done the following in the Boneyard:

-Kill the Blades leader and a number of members
-Obtained the parts for the Hydroponics thing
-Killed all of the Gun Runners and looted most of the place
-Killed the three Deathclaws AND their Mother
-Spoken to Nicole about the Followers and some other stuff
-Got that Follower companion

And currently, my World map has all imporant locations except one revealed (according to right-side panel)
