Stupid Adblock

God damn it.

Adblock for Firefox is a joke. Nothing...literally nothing...shows up now.

How do I get rid of it?

Yes, I am tech illiterate, thank you.

ROFL. I do not like Firefox. But I will try to help.

Now that that's over, there should be a way to turn it off or view the black list or something. Make sure you didn't ad an image directory to a friendly server (Blacklist entry like http://www.friendlysite.com/images/* as opposed to http://www.friendlysite.com/images/sponsors/* or http://www.nastyadvertserver/*) Someplace there should be an option to turn it off, probably under a menu like "Options" or "View" or "File" or fuck knows what. Try 'em all, really. I'm not sure if you can configure its criteria for blocking images. Also, there is an option somewhere in the options of IE and thusly probably in FF as well, to not dispaly *any* images. Make sure that that is set correctly.

Now does Firefox show a palceholder for a blocked ad? (Maxthon, which I can heartily reccomend, shows: "[BLOCKED ADS]") Are you seeing such a placeholder, or a red "X", or nothing at all, or somethign completely out of left field (like, say, Cloris Leachman's face, or a walnut?)

Tools -> Adblock -> Preferences

Then uncheck "Enable Adblock." This is a temporary measure, perhaps helpful. In this window, you can also adjust the entries that Adblock will block.

To uninstall Adblock, bring down Tools (it's on the top, a pull-down menu) and open ‘Extensions.’ This should bring up a new window, click on Adblock (so the entry is highlighted), then click the "Uninstall" button.

Did you abuse the wildcard function?

10 caps say you input "*" or "www*" or "http://*" as the mask to be blocked. Or something.

Just get rid of AdBlock.

Probably "http://*.com" or something stupid like that.

Sheesh. When will people learn to use wildcards properly.

What What What?? Well Excuuuuuuse me for criticizing the golden browser... Firefox doesn't suck like IE sucks, but I just prefer Maxthon. Look at it this way, if it were an IE question I'd start with "Switch to Maxthon".... :D

If IE sucks that much, why are you using an IE front-end instead of just a different browser?
And yes, while it adds a lot of functionality to IE, the core and the rendering engine are still and will still remain IE.

Because my main issues with IE are in the front end, and having shit *think* your browser is IE is very helpful at times, i.e. I can get shit from Microsoft, use my University's pages, and do anything else I need to. Most of my problems with Firefox are in the core, to be honest. The way it handles errors just makes me want to chuck the machine right out the window... I fucking *HATE* message boxes... HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE.

Anywho, er, um, yeah. Message boxes... bad...

Message boxes can be changed to displaying error pages, as is now the standard with Firefox 1.5
Also, Firefox can identify itself as IE as well, you just need a small extension for it.
