You can always download loads of interesting stuff off youTube*. All those 10-part documentaries you'd normally not watch streaming. But those .flv files are pretty small anyway.
I'd spend a few bucks on Steam and use the bandwidth to download new games. Even re-download some of my older Steam games, for that rainy day when you find yourself with no internet connection.
Or as Hassknecht so discretely put it, download porn.

* What's the legal line there? AFAIK, if it is not in breach of copyright laws and is freely available on youTube, it doesn't matter if I watch it on the site or download it using a plug-in.

Go to the European Southern Observatory and download some of their super high-res images of the stars. Such as the The Helix Nebula - some images are in the hundreds of MB.

Never thought about downloading hi res stuff before though, especially coming from new zealand where bandwidth is expensive. I got some 1080p movies and pics of solar systems and the like, and a legitimate copy of fallout 2
