sulik, his armor, and me (minor spoilers)

I have an ac of 10 and sulik has a 9. his jacket gives whoever wears it a big bump. I just started the game, first timer...loving loving loving it. anyway, I don't have gun yet (just found a dead peasant in trapper town that I thought had a pistol o well...) and so I am meleeing it for now. that AC boost is nice but I don't want to get sulik killed. should I let him keep it? not a big decision given you can save game.

oh, and that dead peasant near where all the rats were in trapper town..I thought he had a 10 mm?

I usually take Suliks jacket for myself, since I usually need it more.
Early in the game you most likely have much less HP than him and lower combat skills as well. Also more critters will target you, so yeah, take the jacket.

The gun is on a peasant, but lower down in the tunnels.

Well, it all depends on your character's build. But in almost all cases I would advise this:

Take Sulik's jacket! Don't worry about him. If he dies, just reload.

You can buy another leather jacket, or even the next-best armor (leather armor) from the Buckners in Klamath. If you steal everything from everyone AND loot every container everywhere like I normally do, this is not difficult to achieve. I think the leather armor costs about $800 or so. You can easily afford it with gecko pelts. This is even easier after you rescue Smiley from the Toxic Caves (make sure you steal the 10 golden gecko pelts he has BEFORE you get him to the exit of the caves)

PS: If I were you I would avoid any sort of guide, help, forum, etc in your first play-through! This makes it a lot more enjoyable.

Another good way to get money and karma at the same time is doing side quests. Or the best way I like to get money is... find a bad guy with a gun, kill him take the gun(or anything valuable) then go find a good seller and sell it to him for money or if you can find a better seller which can give you armor for the gun.
