System requirements???

Still Mildly Glowing
Does anyone have any clue as to what the system requirements might be for running FO3. I 'm not one to go out and buy the latest and greatest everytime they speed up computers. But it would be nice to know what I need to have before the release of FO3.

I think if your pc runs a actual game it will run fallout3.

To be exact.. hum.. i think no one will be able to say what u have to got.

Well, what are your system specs right now? How does your computer handle some of the recent games today? (Not the bleeding edge ones, but ones released in the last 5 years or so)

generally if you buy the brightest and shinniest, it will last 3-4 years game-wise with maybe the occasionall video card upgrade.

i do wish i could afford to upgrade my SCSI drives tho. SATA is almost as fast as my LVD drives.

Right now I'm running p3 455, ATI rage 32m, 325mb ram.I know this is outdated, but I am thinking of upgrading. Only thing is my resources are limited as far as the computer goes. So if I can get somewhere close, or if someone has any ideas I can at least have an idea what I need to fork out.

Everything.
There is, quite simply, no way in hell that thing is going to run Fallout 3. Hell, I doubt it runs Morrowind at all, and if it does it is probably really poorly.
And considering the fact that Fallout 3 will almost certainly use the base graphics engine of Oblivion, the sequel to Morrowind, there is simply no way it will run Fallout 3.
But luckily for you, it will still take quite some time for Fallout 3 to appear, so you could start saving now, if you really want to.

Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
I simple number is all I am asking for. Over 2 ghz processor. How much RAM? Is it that hard to get a simple answer.

I don't think you understand the situation: we don't have a clue as to what the system requirements are going to be, it'll take at the very, very, very least a year before the game is completed, so we can't help you with any numbers whatsoever.
All we can say is that you'll need a much newer PC than this, but we can't just magically know the system requirements. This is the best info you're going to get, basically.

you wanna be safe?

get the newest 64 bit 3+ ghz amd/mobo with 1.5 - 2 gig of ram and the spiffiest new video card.

there is your goal... shoot high little grasshopper!

Yes. I myself intend to sell a useless organ, a kidney mayhap, in order to procure a platform for the execution of the aforementioned computer game the moment it becomes available.

Considering that the possible release date (year?) of FO3 could be 2007, i'd say you have plenty of time to upgrade your PC.

And you can probably forget playing it on any mid-spec PC of today.

Pete Hines: If you have the latest, greatest PC with the best video card, etc., it will probably look the same as the Xbox 360 version. Anything else will probably lag behind.
This refers to Oblivion, but will probably be the same for FO3

Bleh, I dont like AMD at all. Friend has a new AMD 64 proceccer (3.4 ghz I believe?) and its not stable at all. Fast yes, but stable no.

I would say...

P4 w/ hyperthreading and all that jazz, at least 3.1 ghz proceccer

Nforce chipset

2x GeForce 6600 (at least 6600's, 7800's if you can afford it)

2+ gigs of RDRAM

NO FUCKING SERVICE PACK 2!!!!

Honestly, I would prefer FO3 to have fairly easy system requirements- for those of us who don't want to shell out mega bucks on a new computer.

I could be wrong here but Oblivion is due out end of the year right? Those specs should be close to FO3's specs.

ATI RAGE 32meg! YESSSSSS! I have one right here baby ISO TO THE MAXXX! God I just had to keep it. It was too uuber in the day
