Taser and flamethrower

J. E. Sawyer also talked about specific guns in Fallout3:
<blockquote>I would definitely like it if flamethrowers looked more like flamethrowers. I've thought about rocket launcher backblast. I think it's a possibility, but I wouldn't consider it under the old Small Guns / Big Guns / Energy Weapons breakdown. Rocket launchers were pretty crummy, overall, in the last two games.

I would like to see a long-range electrical weapon based off of that neato "phaser" weapon some company is developing.
By the way, the weapon I was referring to is this little dweel:

Good to know he`s not asking for a Vash the Stampead's Gun in Fallout3 like some guy did...

i thought rocket launchers were awesome in F 1 and still pretty good in fallout 2. They do wicked damage to supermutants who wear no armor, but whats really great is they knock your enemy back 10-20 feet every attack, so the target has to use action points to get back into (good) range.

Oh man, that was so funny! I mean, you are a great humorist, Mr. Sawer! :D

What? You wern't kidding? You mean you're ditching the rocket launcher for no reason?

Well, see if I care. I never used big guns in either Fallout...

Well, I used big guns a lot in FO 1 & 2 (and Tactics) but I avoided rocket launchers. That waepos had poorly calculated damage and was too weak for my taste (and needs). It's knocking abilities were no counterweith for it's silly dmg (I'm talking about armoured targets mostly but often even unarmoured foes just still laughed at me after two rocket hits).

So if in FO3 this toy will be even more useless, and if we compare it to news about ammo in FO3 (that there will be no endless suply of it that is, and it will be hard to get) I have serious doubts if anyone will decide to use rocket launcher as his/her waepon of choice or even support waepon.

He`s not, in the end it may look different but he`s not dishing it. He plans to make a few changes, but he didn`t talked much about them really.

I think it sounds good to me... the problem i had with the rocket launcher was how it was so damn heavy as was its ammo. This made it so hard to pick up extra loot, especially when you consider that its really only useful as a support weapon. The necessary amount of gear to carry just to fight when using say a rocket launcher/ Bozar you're gonna really rack up in the weight. In addition, unless scoring critical hits, the impact of the Rocket Launcher wasn't to powerful. Sure it might knock the guy back a bit, but if you're in an area with a lot of foes... there were plenty of other weapons that could eliminate the enemies in the time it takes a rocketman to fire and then reload.

Sometimes I wonder if he's even played Fallout 1 and/or 2...

I remember fighting through the mutant base in Fallout with the Rocket launcher.. it was far from useless...

Yeah, the rocket launcher is the most useful big gun in the game. With AP shells, it's far from being a weak weapon, although it admittedly doesn' tcompare well to targetted shots from the Turbo Plasma Rifle.
