Team wanted for FOnline project

Aralvar

First time out of the vault
Game Pitch Document: http://www.mediafire.com/?b6xxpc1v0qa571b

Who I want specifically:

1 programmer, knowledgeable in C++ and/or AngelScript
1-3 artists, for location design
1-3 writers, for dialogue and story writing

The programmer will have his name listed on the title screen, as an added incentive.

The artists just need to learn how to use the Mapper Tool for FOnline: 2238 which I will send to them if they need it, and they have creative freedom to create the towns and other locations that I assign to them. I just need to approve it when it's finished.

The writers also have creative freedom to create different stories and pieces of dialogue in the game, I just need to approve it at the end just like with the artists to make sure there's nothing over the top.

The setting is going to be a post apocalyptic Idaho and possibly some surrounding areas. The date I will leave up to the writers.

Come on guys, this will be a lot of fun for everyone! Contact me here or on Skype (My Skype name is prophetraz1311).

So you have no general game vision documentation, no main themes, no draft storyline or events/location ideas? Everybody does what they want, work their asses off on locations and quests/dialogue and then you approve it or potentially find out it doesn't hold together and everything has to be remade from scratch?

I might have misunderstood your post, but if not, then I'm afraid you may experience problems recruiting serious applicants. You didn't mention what you offer on your part, except for fun, which is somewhat ambiguous. To be perfectly honest, your offer sounds to me like: "I feel like making a grand game, everybody come and do it for me".

If you're serious about this, at the very least write a pitch document, so people who might potentially be interested have an idea of what you want to achieve and more importantly - how you want to achive it. What is the scope of the project? How long do you estimate it will take? What are the main game systems? What is your design philosophy? Who is your target audience? Stuff like that. There are plenty of examples of pitch documents on the net, search for them and use them as basis.

You could also say a few words about yourself: what is your expertise in Fallout modding? What projects have you participated in before? Why should we trust you will see the project to the end?

Alright, that's understandable. I'll try and get something written up and I'll post it here.

Alright, original post edited with design document. Someone let me know if you think it needs more.

I'm sorry to say, but based upon what you have written in the "game pitch document" - this will never get off the ground. What is your background? Are you a game designer / programmer? Or have you just come up with an idea?

Myself and ardent speak with some experience in this area - making a brand new game is a herculean task even with a dedicated and experienced team. It is not something to be entered into lightly and it is not something that can be done with one scripter as you alluded to in your pitch.

Such a task will not be completed in months or even years especially when it is a free project that people have to complete as a hobby.

With regards to the story... you currently don't have one! Leaving it up to the writers will result in a free for all where people design conflicting story points and then argue over which one you should persue. At MR, ardent has done a truly stunning job unifying the design documents so our team has a clear focus.

Im sorry if that seems a little heavy handed... but if this is truly something you want to see being undertaken then you need to be aware of how great a task it really is. I think the game pitch document needs a serious amount of work with a clear story and idea of main locations and what potentially each location will entail. Only then would any potential applicant have an idea what they are helping to achieve.
