Team X is dying, I'm not sure if they are still working on it even.

Crazy Vasey is making something to add, remoive or change the appearance and scripts of critters in all maps.

Creating a tile modifier for the maps.

If TeamX officially announce that they aren't gonna work in Mapper any more, we should start considering creating a full-scale graphical map editor more seriously.

But I heard rumours that it's still being developed but due to the lack of people working on it, they aren't advancing very fast.

You never told me I had to fiddle with scripts! Anyway theres a lot of stuff I intend to put in this app besides scripts. Facing, groupids, hp, inventory editing, possibly location on map. Scripts I'll try and put in as well.

But what I would really really like would be for some nice person to figure out the script section fully for normal and multi level maps. I'm not so good with a hex editor.

As far as I can tell it is completely random, the only link between the two is the fact that most critters have the hex value of their script written in the little chunk somewhere. Then All I did was search for that he x value with lots of '0's either before or after it.

Thats basically what the teamx doc said as well. But what I meant was finding the end of the script section. I can sort of do it in single level maps but multi level ones just seem to be random. Is Borg Locutus still around? He seemed to have map files down with mapinfo.exe.

I have Borg's email address, but he doesn't know anything about maps, and he hasn't even had Fallout 2 on his comp for 2 years.

He made it based on the Fallout engine research Tuffs Mod Team had made and just made it pick up Fallout 2 scripts, critters etc. But I think Fallout 2 is three years old, isn't it?

At least I have one thing to tell you: the only reason of that it seems like TeamX is dying is that we are to busy with work to show any signs of life ;))

I feel kinda stupid now, cause I signed up for graphix next year, if I had thought of making mods, I would've taken the C class... Great, well if ya do ever get a map creator/editor, I'll be the guy that makes the graphix to put in it.

Oh yeah. If you have ever played Simcity 2000 there is a program called scurk (sim city urban renual kit) it works allot like mapper. If yacould figure out how to tinker with it. You probably could convert it to read fallout dat files, and place fallout objects instaid of biuldings and simcity stuff. Of course I was half asleep when I first though of this, and I now realise that this probably wont work. but hey... Its worth a try!

Knowing a programming language has nothing to do with modding. All you need to understand is the 16 base number system.

No this won't work.

1¬In order to 'tinker' with the program you need the sourcecode.
2¬DATs are compression archives
3¬MAPs are the files containing the data
4¬It's not worth a try.

If you really want to learn C do it in your sparetime it doesn't take that long. If you want I can direct you to a couple of tutorials.
