The F.E.W.

First time out of the vault
Okay, I'm thinking about recreating Van Buren, but with more options (like realtime or turnbased, first person or third, etc.). I'm using a modified Wisolay Engine (http://www.gameblender.org/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=186) Note that I'm making the engine for more than just The F.E.W., and that it isn't even finished yet (and won't be unless my computer starts working awesome again). I just want to know how many people would want to play it and/or help me make it. I'm making it using Blender and Python, if you know much about these tell me if you'd like to help. If you don't know about them, and would like to help, you can help me design items, etc., or you can try to learn it or whatnot.

I'm thinking about making it with the entire west coast and maybe a little midwest.

TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK.

Bullshit. Just recreating Van Buren would be more than enough work for a big team for a few years. Start small.

Turth has been spoken here: start small.

I suggest you either stick to the original Van Buren locations or revisit the locations of FO1 and FO2 ;)

When it comes to Maps for a Fallout game I love square worldmaps... like i FO1 and FO2. the idea is, Keep it square but take the map all the way from LA (Boneyard) or even Glow all the way to Arroyo or Klamath, and then extend it east far enough to keep the map square... This would include Arizona and Nevada... the we really could answer Tycho-Cassidy's question "I wonder of Nevada survived the war?"

I'm trying to make a map maker that would make it really easy to make maps. I've got a few ideas about how I could/would do it.

For example : in both F01/F02, the terrain tiles were square (the grid was hexegonal though). In The F.E.W. both terrain and grid would be hexagonal. Most importantly I'm trying to get most of the stuff that didn't work in the official mapper to work in The F.E.W.'s map maker. I'm also seeing if I can get multiple levels (where you can see all of them at the same time, 3Dish), and getting prefab stuff.

The map maker is coming along nicely, there's just a ton of bugs that make it totally unusable (I'm writing a ton of scripts, I just need fix the bugs and whatnot).

I probably would start with a few places, and then make more, and more, etc.

I'm not exactly sure whether it answers the "start small" stuff, but it is kind of a "where I am at the moment".

Maps, even art is the least. Scripts, interesting characters quests, and the tons of dialogue, thats the problem.

imagine your a developer of black isle and complete Van Buren, start small tough i tried to add 5000 units in myth II and was a headache.
