The Fall released in Germany

So Old I'm Losing Radiation Signs
Apparently The Fall is being released in Germany. Here's my badly paraphrased translation of German announcement:

The Fall Release Celebration

The long awaited day has come! On 11/19/04 The Fall will be in the shops. Amazon shoppers get to play the game on the 17th, and Amazon has guaranteed that all orders will be shipped punctually on that date. The game box has a lift-up cover and shows the well-known hero who is also featured on our website. In the box is a thick colored manual and a two sided poster. The Wasteland Awaits!

Apparently a patch has already been released as well. No word yet on the English or other releases.

Thanks, Briosafreak!

That is one of the good things about Silver Style as a German developer. By the time other versions have shipped, the code state might actually be halfway playable. :)

Well, since it's already shipped in Germany, I'm 99% sure it's available somewhere in Warsaw's electronics' black market.

Unfortunatedly, by the looks of it, my computer specs don't allow me to play it. So yeah, who wants to donate money for me to get a better PC, so I can review the game for you? :P

PAYPAL!

I got it!
Unfortunately I have no time to play in the next days, but the manual and the box look great.

Hey, Montez: Isn't so bad paraphrased at all
If you translated it your German is way better than my English.

See it? I've no idea when to use "then" or "than"

You are correct, though.

--- Anyway, I guess The Fall will be out over the entire EU pretty soon, then. I'll be sure to pick up a copy.

I think I'm going to have to get this one. I've scrutinized the webpage and this looks pretty amazing. It looks to me more like a Jagged Alliance 2 type game running in a Neverwinter Nights type engine. Since I really like both of those games, this definately seems like something for me.

Have you scoped out the weapons list? It pretty much identical with that of JA2 Wildfire. Man I love JA2, but I also like the more fluid gameplay of Fallout Tactics. Unfortunately the thing that makes Tactics so hard is you can't pause the game and reassign actions to you squad, so essentially you just set up an ambush and then control the pointman when you are running in CTB mode.

The only thing that bothers me is they say that the game isn't a combat simulator but rather an RPG. I admit that the RPG aspects of a game are fun, but personally I like the combat side more. To me the RPG elements are just the glue used to hold the combat missions together.

Well, time will tell, but I'm seriously looking forward to giving these guys some money. I've been know to take a chance on a game, you win some you lose some. Hope the english version comes out before too long.

Whoa Dukester, are you waiting for someone to make a barbecue out of your ass?
I think you've wondered in the wrong forum. This is NMA, the community dedicated to Fallout. Fallout was an RPG. Only reason why people in here are paying so much attention to Fall, is the fact that it ought to be a post apclayptic role playing game, just like Fallout was. If you're regarding to RPG elements as a ''glue'' for stiching together the plot for some shitty RT combat that Fall has, you're completely out of business. Only aspect that could make this game worth buying is decent plot and role playing somewhat expected.
Ok, I like combat games like JA2 too, but your opinion is weird.
Man I love JA2, but I also like the more fluid gameplay of Fallout Tactics.
Whaaat?! Gameplay smoother on FoT? Could you explane, please? JA2 is regarded by many(including me) as the best TB combat game ever made. FoT isn't even considered as a good game. Maybe it's somewhat harsh and I disagree with people who reffers to it as ''falot craptics''. I played it and for me the game was ok, but not anywhere near the immersion that JA2 provided.
Unfortunately the thing that makes Tactics so hard is you can't pause the game and reassign actions to you squad, so essentially you just set up an ambush and then control the pointman when you are running in CTB mode.
I don't know anyone who played FoT in the CBT mode. I thought it was implemented just to appeal retarded kiddies who start to cry if there's no real time combat. TB is just like soooo booooring.
Further more, I can't recall just one decent game using ranged weapons and RT combat that wasn't FPS. Maybe Fall will be the first one, but it's doubtfull.

You know, after I made that post it did occur to me that I would probably get BBQ'd :-)

I do kind of like FoT though, and I like how combat is more than standing toe-to-toe with a bunch of enemies and shooting each other in the eyes. But combat is typically pretty important for RPG's, thats why you collect weapons, improve your stats, etc, so you can see your character kick some butt.

Well, serves me right for posting right before bed. I'm just finishing replaying Fallout 1 (again) so I'm going back to it.
