The Fallout 3 money drive

Bobbin

First time out of the vault
If you are like me you feel helpless and just want to do SOMETHING about the current situation. Ranting on the Interplay forums is one way to deal with it, but maybe we are in need of something more constructive.
I offer the following:

1) Register a domain (Example: fallout3moneydrive.com)

2) I build a website (nothing funky of course)

3) I start by donating 50 Bucks myself, maybe even more later on.

What I'd need to know:

What do you think of it? Where should the money go (Puuk, JE, Silver Style or a third party)? What could be the name of the site (I think my example would work, however, maybe you got better ideas)?

We won't be able to completely finance the third installment, but we could give it a boost. We could also say that the money has to go to a charity organisation if there won't be a Fallout 3.

Would also be great to hear any ex-BIS'lers opinion on this.

I don't know about the rest of you guys. But I would't donate anything to something as unsecure as this. My money could end up anywhere.

Of course it had to go to anyone trustworthy like JE or so. Something like "Officially supported by NMA, DAC and JE". Trust is the key, you are right about that. If it would be sure that the money goes into the right hands - would you donate? As I said, if Fallout 3 won't become a reality the money goes to the charity.

Everything.

I am not going to lock this thread and I am going to nicely say that is not a good idea. I would rather give money to an independent studio with a good idea like Static than give money to a company like Interplay which has no idea on how to spend money wisely.

I don't think he wants to raise money to help iplay... we all know we dont :P
He's trying to raise money for the ex-BiSers so they can buy FO3 back...
However i think everything is still very uncertain. There's much we don't know here in the forums and imo there's a lot to come in the next days / weeks.

What makes you think I wanna raise money for Interplay? Well, at the end Interplay might get it because it could be used to:

1) Get the engine
2) Get the PC license
3) Hire employees

Well, it might sound crazy and as long as there are so much uncertainties it probably is, but I can't think of a lot of other ways to actively DO something.

Yeah that's the problem, this idea will obviously help Interplay. Its kinda like sending money to Hitler to help him "relocate jews".

I would rather see you support independent developers who are making quality post-apocalyptic role-playing games. There are plenty of them out there. I'm sure they would appreciate it. Support Troika or Obsidian with your money.

What the fuck. Am I supposed to pay twice for the game now? Maybe you're forgetting who should be catering to whom here.

Considering I would spend a hundred bucks on that game it would be okay for me to pay 50 now, 50 later :)
But well, seems me idea wasn't that... brilliant, considering the replies...

If the ex-BIS'rs want to make a company, they can. If they want to raise money from fans, then the fans could buy shares in their company's stock. What would matter is that we are updated with what their plans are.

It's still risky, but it's a lot safer than this post suggests. Giving them $20 as charity seems less wise than paying out $20 for a couple shares of a new company.

Also, remember the news of the ex-BIS'rs trying to finish the game is still a bit uncertain. Let's wait and here.

I am sure the BIS staff knows that there are a lot of loyal fans out there who would be willing to help them out, financially if it comes to that. But there are a lot of folks out there that might take advantage of something like this too.

Let's be careful.
