The mapper will not open

Hey guys I just started using the mapper again after a 7 year break. I am running a laptop using vista but the program will not start. It tells me I am
"trying to use Sfall with an incompatible version of fallout. Was expecting Fallout 2 V.1.02"

I have installed the Hi rez patches and the unofficial FO2 patch. The Game itself runs great and fine and it even tells me that I am running v1.02. The disk I installed from was the 3 pack from target with FO1, FO2, and FOT.

Has anyone else encountered this?
 
mapper needs to be installed in C:\Fallout 2\
and also you need to create a folder and name it "dev" in C:\Fallout 2\
And you also need to download citylimit mapper patch... it's somewhere on the NMA downloads section I think...
 
Your problem lies in the fact that your mapper is where the ddraw.dll is. Move the mapper into a different folder.
 
If it cannot open/load fonts, then my next question is if you use the english Fallout 2 version. If you don't use it, open the mapper.cfg, search for language=x and change english to i. e. german. Check the fallout2.cfg to see what's written under language=... in there.
 
Hello, i am having a problem with BIS mapper too - it goes black screen and then kicks me to the desktop with no error messages.I am really suprised about it, because about 4-5 years later i remember that mapper worked fine.
P.S.
Path to master, critter, data written correctly, mapper is not near ddraw.dll.
