The only good thing to come from soccer...

It's sad. And in my humble opinion, Italian soccer fans are starting to become more agressive than their English counterparts.

Let's hope they behave tonight in Turin, now that Juventus has been kicked out of the Champions league...

PS Congrats to any PSV fans out there - 't was a nice match. Those Van Bommel and Alex will be going places...

Van Bommel has indeed been mentioned with several clubs, including Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The match wasn't all that great though. But the groups of Frenchies here this afternoon were fun.

As for Italian football fans getting worse, meh, I doubt it. Hooligans have always been asses, although I agree that this season has seen some particularly bad things mainly from Italian clubs.

But this was terrible. Lit fireworks against Dida's head, Eidhoven's Dagblad had a wonderful picture of Materazzi and another player (of the two opposing sides) looking at a cloud of smoke with some lights. That was the penalty area. Bloody idiots.
Ah well, I'll be seeing the AC Milan Italians here in town in a couple of weeks. That should be 'fun'.

At least American sports don't have this crap. The latest thing was some guy throwing a cup of soda at a basketball player, who then stormed the stands and punched the wrong guy.

And indeed, there have been riots around Juve-Liverpool, as NOS is now reporting. Although they're the only source I can find (and not even on their website, only the TV news), they do have video footage. Riot Police had to come in, cars have been wrecked.

Well, I've only seen the extentions and the shoot-outs, since Juve-Liverpool was the match they showed live here. And those extentions were pretty exiting.

But of couse, in comparison to Juve-Liverpool, watching PsychoSniper trying to read a book might be considered exiting.

Meh. The AC Milan tifosi aren't that bad, IIRC. I don't know if they have any at all, really. Isn't AC the club that has the largly leftist following?

Or was that AS Roma?

Well, the players were a lot more tired during those extentions than during the first 90 minutes, and since the forwards were largely substitutes and the defense not, there were more opportnities for both teams. But yeah, the game was more exciting than boring old Juve-Liverpool. But there never were many opportunities, largely because of excellent defensive play on the side of PSV (Ooijer and Alex played very well). Lyon's defense wasn't that good, but PSV's offense wasn't all that impressive this time around, I've seen them play better.

AS Roma has a left-wing following, Lazio Roma right-wing. I wouldn't know about AC Milan, though.
