okay,
i bought this game about a mounth ago and i hated it at first, but then i progressed a bit more in the game and i must say that in the end i felt that it was even more fun than GTA IV. The amount of customization and different activities is simply amazing! I mean you can buy songs from stores and create your own playlist, just to name one...
now the DLC is coming out on April 16th and i thought it might be a good time to open a thread for this game and see what you guys think about this game.

I have grown to like it. Hilarious side quest are one thing that make it stand out. Spraying excrement all over the suburb to bring down market value was brilliant. The customization options in this game are awesome, from main char, cars houses etc.
One thing tough, the driving can suck sometimes, in that respect GTA3-4 system was better.

yup, that was one of the things that also annoyed me, but i got used to it after a while. you have to actually use the handbrake in the curves.

Yup that was one the 1st things I learned fast. Second was no to do time critical missions on bike. :P
Oh yes on thing Id like to point out is a mini game you can play at your house Zombie Invasion, pure fun!

I've been singing the praises of this game for a while here. Awesome, Awesome fun. Fuzz is my favourite activity. Love breaking up a peace protest with a chainsaw and see things like a collage hazing gone wrong(with chainsaws) and the fight of the century.

Here is the phone codes for the two pre order Vehicles. Using them doesn't count as cheats so your stats wont lock or anything.

#728237 – Destroy UFO two person flying saucer
#7266837 – Peewee minibike

I'm so very tired of the GTA style sandbox games. I wasn't even able to get into GTA 4 but have heard yays and nays for this game. I would have to have one of you fellas who liked this game to really sell me on it to try it. Tho' I could just rent it but rentals are getting to where they are my substitution for buying games.
So I would still have to be sold on this one.
What are it's absolute best features?

Customization(the colour of your watch, the tracklist you play in your car, your characters voice, tune your cars and etc.) and Exploration(different activities and stuff in Stillwater).

Put them in your garage and it saves them, but sometimes it doesn't work perfectly.

Basically Volition(the game developers) had one mandate making this game. Fun.

You play a insane super Criminal that you can fully customise. Male, female or lady boy. Obama, McCain, Palin, Lincoln. Any crazy character you think off you can make.

You side activities include pretending to be cop that makes the Rodney King bashing look like a friendly handshake, insurance fraud(jumping in front of cars to make money), A mission in a septic truck that includes you spraying shit everywhere. As well as streaking and flashing minigames.

The main mission are generally fun and has a few awesome cutscenes.

If that doesn't convince maybe this video will:

Better, saves to it. But sometimes you have to muck around with it.

edit: :aiee: stag beat me, but that's because I got stuck playing the game after trying out the cheats.

damn, i have played through the game once and i didn't knew you could kick people in the nuts! i think i will go back and play it again...and maybe i'll start the game as a hot lesbo chick or something. the character i have right now is an older version of myself.

Hey I didnt know you can kick people into nuts!
And Serge 13 if your going to start a new game get dual katanas first , but they are available only through new game. Meaning you start a game get into ronin mission, steal the swords and start a new game. Link shows how to get them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLqy_OvaCys

Also the same people are bring out Red Faction: Guerilla on June 9th. Saints Row 2 has a few reference to the series, Ultor was the big bad in the first Red Faction.

This game was better than that overhyped POS GTA IV in every way.

And tons more fun.

Love that they quote Yahtzee's award. Adds that little extra amount of awesomness.
Also definatly going to get the DLC. I pretty much always wear cop costumes in sandbox games and they were sadly lacking in Saint's Row 2.

Better get playing it a again, a freeze after a long mission really put me off it.
Other than the glitches though I find it a lot more fun than the latest GTA despite IV's ragdoll physics being made of pure awesome (which is the only reason my brother loves it).

As per you guys suggestion, I have given this game a rent.

I plan on playing it sometime tonight and will post my thoughts in a couple of days.

Hope you fellas are right on the money with it.

It's really not a bad game.

My only problem with it was a lack of even progression.

I did two "Story" missions and finished one sidequest branch and had infinite handgun ammo, from there, the game was pretty much a cakewalk.

It was more fun than GTA IV.
That is what matters to me in these sandbox crime simulators.
Albeit it is childish at points. Like the sewage spraying.

I did play it and I've gotta say it's fun. More than fun. The most fun I've had since I first played GTA 3, at least as far as sand box games go.

When I first started it up I was immediately having fun with creating various combos of characters. First, because of Kilus, was Abraham Lincoln with a buff build and an "Australian" accent (I had a hard time figuring that one out). Then I made Oprah. Then....last but not least. Michael Jackson (Laughed my ass off when he actually grabbed his crotch).

Well after having fun making characters I settled for an "Australian" (Really? It's hard to tell, at least from an American's stand point) punk rocker with a long chin beard with an anarchist attitude.

I was playing the side quests first. Top three favorites were Septic Avenger, Fight Club, and of course Insurance Fraud.

After playing I realized something, this isn't just as fun as GTA 3 (I haven't had fun with GTA since Vice City) this just feels like a fantastic parody of a sand box, crime simulator as opposed to it's own style of game. It is more over the top than the over the top-ness that is GTA which just makes me think and feel parody.

All in all it is a fun fun fun game. I plan on owning it. One problem I really have is that it seems really hard on the old Xbox 360. Skips and jugs but the system itself may be getting worn out since I don't PC game as much as I used to.

Thanks for making me take notice of this one.

The first DLC pack is a rip.

6 new vehicles (3 cars, 1 helicopter, 1 plane, 1 motorized tricycle.) A couple new sets of clothes and 3 crappy missions with no reward other than being able to call a hilariously ugly Tera Patrick to come help you.
