For all of you who hate VC, this one's for you! This story describes what happens when the Raiders decide to make a full-scale attack, and how Gecko, Broken Hills, and New Reno fare afterwards.

|==============================================================|

I AM FIRST CITIZEN LYNETTE! HOW DARE YOU CHALLENGE MY AUTHORITY!

Her arrogant words burned into your ears. As her guards moved forward to "escort" you out, you glare at her, for you know her tyranny will soon come to an end. You have already been hired by the Bishops to take her out, and any misgivings you might have had about the justice of the act are now gone. So you remember every insult and injustice the "citizens" of Vault City throw your way as you are dragged out by the armed guards, the way the Customs officer sneers at you when he gleefully revokes your citizenship papers, and the bruise caused by the 14mm Pistol the gate guard pistol-whipped you with for "resisting". You once had the thought in mind to help these people by destroying the raiders who opposed them, but sweet little Miss Lynette has changed your mind. So you and your party hop in the Highwayman and drive off. To New Reno.

Ah, New Reno. Such a desolate place: you never thought you'd stay here long. But out of necessity you have adopted it as a second home. Out of need for money you have offered your services to the Families, playing all sides of the field, offering allegiance to none. But now you seek Mr. Bishop. You park the Highwayman in a dimly-lit parking lot on the south side of town, near the Desperado Casino. To your amusment and annoyance, the vagrant Jules snakes his way toward your car.

"That a CAR! DAMN!"

He walks up toward it admirably. You can see a sparkle in his eye, one that says $$. Cassidy and Vic glance towards you. You nod. Then Jules comes up to hassle you.

"Hey brother! You be ridin' in STYLE! How's about you..."

He never gets to finish his sentence. You bash him with the car door forcefully as you hastily make your exit. Knocking the wind out of him, he falls to the ground. He rolls over a few times and tries to get up, but Cassidy is quick to deliver a butt-stroke to the teeth with his shotgun, knocking out a gold tooth. You think you might be able to get a few caps for it, so you pocket it, after you steal all of Jule's Jet and caps, concealed inside his jacket. All in a day's work.

So you get to the Bishop's residence. You see Mrs. Bishop, remembering how you plugged her the other night when Mr. Bishop was passed out drunk. Moving upstairs, you and the Boss get down to buisness. You explain the situation, and how it will be difficult to attack, because of the laser turrets. So the two of you come up with another plan...

\\in Gecko the next day...speaking to Harold

WE NEED A HYDROELECTRIC MAGNETOSPHERE REGULATOR!

"Fine. Where can I get one?"

WELL YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO FIND ONE IN VAULT CITY...BUT THEY SHOOT GHOULS ON SIGHT!

"Is that so? Well I might be able to get you that part, for a price..."

WHATCHA MEAN, SMOOTHSKIN?

So you tell him the details of your plan, and he nervously agrees with you. Having finished your buisness here, you and your party heads east...

\\in Broken Hills, talking to Marcus

OHH, WHAT SINKHOLE DO YOU COME FROM?

"From a city a little ways to the west. Maybe you've heard of it? I'ts called Vault City."

THERE WON'T BE TROUBLE AS LONG AS YOU DON'T START IT. JUST STAY CIVILIZED!"

"Good idea. When the First Citizen gives the order to attack, we'll civilize you all, after we make you our "servants""

Infuriated, Marcus tries to arrest you all, but you are too quick and escape in the Highwayman.

You travel south to NCR. As a Ranger, you are well respected here. You head to the Ranger's office and talk to the dispatcher.

"You won't believe it! Vault City has been dealing in slaves right under our noses and we are powerless to stop them!"

YES, ITS A SHAME THAT THEY DEAL IN SERVANTS, BUT SINCE ITS NOT REALLY SLAVERY, WE CANT TAKE ANY DIRECT ACTION.

"No, I mean they have gone past "servitude" and progressed into full-blown slave trading! Here, have a look at this!"

You hand Elise a forged holodisk, made by Myron, that shows Vault citizens selling their servants to slavers. The quartermaster is distressed.

"I guess we'll never be able to take them down. I mean, that's VAULT CITY were talking about, not some two-bit slaver operation."

I WILL PRESENT THIS TO PRESIDENT TANDI, AND IF SHE APPROVES, WE MAY BE ABLE TO BRING ABOUT DIRECT MILITARY ACTION. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICES RANGER. YOU HAVE DONE HUMANITY A GREAT FAVOR.

So now the stage is set. You are told by one of Bishop's operatives that Thomas Moore in Vault City has been stirring up the servant population in preparation, and that the whole city is in turmoil. You also hear of skirmishes between the VC patrols and Unity Parties. And two days later, Bishop gives the go ahead for his raiders to attack.

APRIL 17, 2171, 0519

You have been given command of a platoon of raiders, just as your forefather helped the Blades bring down the Regulators in the Hub many years ago. You arrive at Vault City to find it under attack! From the south, well-trained and well-armed Raiders are massing in attack. The Raiders, having overwhelmed a recent VC patrol, alert the city, which then closes its gates and activates its defenses. Your men are confused, but you tell them that it is a diversionary attack and move away from the raiders in a flanking manuver. The commotion draws attention, and patrolling Unity parties see this as an opportunity and attack. Then from the North and west, Ghouls from Gecko begin marching down towards the city. The city is completely surrounded! Now the destruction begins! The city's laser turrets begin opening fire, killing a few of your men. You order them to hit the deck and call your heavy weapons squad to point. Those with miniguns and rocket launchers are the first to go in. They crawl towards the turrets and knock a few of them out, while also puching a hole in the surrounding fenced perimeter. You requested that a few of your men be equipped with Tesla armor and adv. metal armor before the mission. Now these men spearheaded an attack into the city, tossing grenades and spraying flames with flamers. The few guards in the vicinity are either immolated or retreat in panic. Your men have made their way into the city. Meanwhile, the Raiders seem to have already broken through. Their military training has paid off well, and three laser turrets lie smoking in the distance. With the defenses down, the raiders breached the outer wall and began pouring in through the holes. Once inside, a fierce battle erupted between them and the city guards, and a stalemate divided the inner courtyard, with both sides holed up in houses and tents and whatever cover could be found. On the east, the Unity party had muscled its way in, pounding anything in its way with brute force. A trail of destruction followed them in, and they suffered moderate losses. On the north, however, it was plain to see that the Ghouls were being picked off. They simply did not have the training or equipment to overcome the defenses and were being ripped up. Seeing this, you order your men to circle around to the east, meet up with the mutants, who were now fighting on the same side, and together, break through the wall and head towards the Vault, where the city power supply came from. The men hesitate, but see no other option. At first, stray shots are exchanged between the Unity party and your men, but when they realize that the two share a common enemy, the shots cease and an unnanounced alliance is forged in the heat of battle. Calling forth your demolitions squad, your men set charges and plasic explosives along a weak section of the city wall and blow open a hole. You call your men back as the blood thirsty mutants flood through, catching the defenders by surprise. The stalemate in the inner courtyard is now broken, and the pinned Raiders pick up momentum. They move from house to house, clearing one out at a time with military precision, forcing the inner guards, led by no other that Sherrif Stark, to fall back, creating a deadly pincer effect. The Raiders push forward, dividing the guards into two separate armies, one on the north, which manuvered north to defend the 1st Citizen, and one on the east, which fell back into the Vault. Once the Mutants had clearly established a foothold, you ordered your men in. Now the city was in retreat. You abandon the Unity party, tied up in urban warfare, and press into the Vault, where some stragglers had taken cover. In their desparation, they are putting up a hell of a fight inside the main Vault corridor, all the while trying to get the Vault door closed. Seeing the threat, you order your men to rush in, hitting them with all you've got. Rockets and grenades fly through the air and carpet-bomb the unfortunate defenders. The place is covered in blood. You get to the Vault door in time to use your electronic lockpick on the keypad access to disable the emergency closure, and your men run in for the slaughter. Inside, the unarmed scientists and technicians plea for mercy, but none is given. One of your minigunners grins devilishly and proceeds to open fire, tearing them apart. You whip out your trusty 10mm SMG and fire a few bursts into some fleeing scientists, dismembering them. Cassidy fires both barrels of his shotgun into an aggressive civilian, bursting out his guts. Sulik, who had gone berserk with bloodlust, had ran out of ammo, so he had equipped a power fist and proceeded to beat out a scientist's brains with it. You can hear the bones cracking as the scientist wails in misery, while Sulik keeps pounding like a madman. Taking only Vic and Myron with you, you proceed to the 3rd floor, where the main control room is located. You find the floor abandoned by all except the janitor, who in his crazed dimensia, comes after you with a mop. He whacks Myron on the head with it, and Myron starts to cry like a little girl. Vic, none the wiser, ends this fiasco with a quick burst from his FN Fal. The janitor slumps headless to the ground. Pulling Myron up by his hair, you race towards the central computer and order Myron to deactive all city power. With the sureness of a geek, he presses a few buttons and all the lights go out. Then the backup power generators kick in and the lights resume, but at a lower intensity. Seeing that the laser turrets can not operate on auxillary power, you head back to the 1st floor. You join up with your men, who waited for you, and order them to move towards the First Citizen's complex. But to your surprise, it seems in your absence the battle had taken a turn for the worse. The Raiders, who would not commit any further, had broken off and retreated back south, leaving the Mutants to fend for themselves. The Mutants were fighting fiercely, but were outnumbered and taking losses. And on the north, the Ghoul offensive seemed to have run out of steam, dispite the defenses being down. It seems hopeless. But then you see that some of the prisoners in the Detention Center have escaped due to the power failure. You round them up and order them to loot the dead for weapons and fight for your side, which they gladly acknowledge. You then move in to fortify the Unity party's position, reviving the offensive and forcing the defenders to give ground. You see that some of the servants in the area are using this opportunity to rebel against their masters, and that some of them are coming to fight by your side. Your ranks swell in numbers, and your "army" breaks out of their perimeter, routing the last of the defenders, who scurry into the First Citizen's complex and bolt the doors. Some of your servant followers hurl molotovs through the windows, starting a fire inside. Bodies ablaze crash through the glass and dance around, until your men decide to end their misery with a few bullets. The fire spreads, and someone inside waves a white rag. The Vault Citizens have surrendered, and in a loud voice you order them to throw down their arms and come out. Off in the distance, you see that the Ghouls have regrouped and are now moving in to occupy the city. Your revenge is almost complete. Almost. The first one out of the burning building is Sen. McClure, who claims to speak for the others and wishes to offer their surrender. But you have a bigger fish in mind. You tell him the terms will be discussed when all survivors inside come out, *including* the First Citizen, Lynette. So out she comes, surrounded by her bodyguards, who hesitate, in their zeal, to release her or their weapons. You remind them that if they refuse, you will surely kill them all along with the First Citizen. In defiant submission, they release her. She is a pitiful sight to behold: her suit is burned and tattered, her face covered in soot and ash, and she is nursing a bleeding wound on her side. Then you "order" the Mutants among you to round up the survivors, and they gladly comply. The big brutes go in and manhandle the rest out, disarming them and tieing their hands in a long chain. You turn to Lynette, who, dazed with shellshock, barely responds to your voice and does not seem to recognize you. You laugh at the site. The once high-and-mighty queen of all b!tches is now humbled before you in a pathetic display. But you decide death is too good for her.

"I know of a certain arm-wrestling champ in Broken Hills who would love to keep her under surveilance"

The Mutants among you turn and laugh uncontrollably, then proceed to tie her at the head of the prisoner chain to be taken back to Broken Hills. Behind you, the First Citizen's complex, the city council building--the symbol and source of Vault City's elite, burns to the ground. Your work here is done. In exhaustion, you and your men retire to Cassidy's Bar, which miraculously survived the battle, though not without a few bullet holes and burns to remind it. Cassidy beams with content, an aging man who lived to see his enemies put under his feet. He pulls open a secret trap door behind the bar and pulls out a keg.

"This here's my secret reserves. Kept 'em here so good 'ol Stark didn't find 'em when he raided the place. I can't think of a better time to serve 'em up!"

So you and your men all got plastered that night. The First Citizen's power is broken and Vault City lies in ruins. And as for that G.E.C.K., you decide, what the hell, my tribe won't need one after we move in here. So from that day on, the people of Arroyo have lived there in peace and harmony, and you went on to lead them after the Elder died. The NCR annexed the new government, and your people enjoyed prosperity under its wing. Gecko was finally able to repair their reactor and live in peace with the new settlement. Broken Hills and New Reno brought trade to them.(though Jet was officially banned, by your recommendation.)So your quest for the Holy G.E.C.K. was now over, your people saved, and stability brought to the land.

As for the Enclave, well, that's another story!

That was very nice. It's about time somebody posted a fic here.

I like the way your charecter played all the sides to get what he wanted. I don't know specifically what he did to piss of Lynette, but I think I've done that enough to at least guess. Nice way to incorperate game-dialouge into the fic, though some quotation marks would be nice. Overall, though, great fic.

It's very nice, but you may want to section it a little bit more because it gets kinda of hard to read after a while.

Well at least someone posted something. I thought everyone was hunting rabbits.

Shh..., be very very quiet, I am hunting rabbits, haaaaa!

hahahahahahaha fuc.k that was fun like hel.l = ) i give u the best grade = )

Great fic, LOL, it's something new but it's still good old Fallout. Only remark is that big chunk of text, it could do with a little choping up. Hope that Enclave story becomes more than a promise...

"Bring out Lynette."
"I think Lynette's sleeping."
"Well I guess you'll just have to go wake her up, now wont'ya?"

"Hope that Enclave story becomes more than a promise."

That story was posted almost a year ago, it`s a bit late for those hopes, man.
