These Bugs are killing me (Modoc)

OK Can I do anything with the following bugs? I just reached the Modoc and noticed couple of bugs there.
For some reason I can't get the Johnny quest from the tannery. His dad doesn't mention anything about it.
I've played the whole game through multiple times so I don't do anything wrong. There's nothing wrong with my installation (patched 1.02), because I got the quest with my other character, which is created at the same installation.

The 2nd bug is with the Gold Watch quest. I got happily married, but know I lose Miria everytime I detonate the TNT bottom of the outhouse. She doesn't get any damage, she just disappeared.

Hope I can do something to these bugs. I'm just afraid something is wrong with my game and I have to restart it. If I remember right I've encountered something similiar before and the game was just fucked up. Restarting helped... That was many years ago though.

Restarting is just soooo annoying. Even if I'm still at the beginning...

This game is sometimes so strange. I solved the Miria problem eventually. I tried to plant the TNT about 20 times and one of the times caused Miria to take damage from the explosion. That time she didn't disappear. Well, the Johnny quest problem still stays.

To get the quest, your Perception must be more than 5, so as your Intelligence. You mustn't have a negative town reputation in Modoc (for example, after releasing the cattle)

Aw crap. My perception is 2 Is there any more quest I have problems to get, my stats are a little weird

I planned to play the game through without killing any single creature Let's see how far my intellectuel reach.
BTW I don't get why perception is needed in a situation like that. I can't hear what he's saying?

You'll have to take lots of drugs to beat Francis at arm wrestling. Fallout is odd that way, your stats affect your options and performances!

The reason Miria disappeared may have been that she ended up on the pre-exlosion level of the map. In that case switching maps would probably have caused her to show up again.

I thought this too, but switching area didn't work. Well, I sorted this one anyway, so it's not that important why it happened. Case closed. Thanks for the info.
