This forum was suggested to me I have a few questions

InsidiousStealth

First time out of the vault
I tried googling the answer to this and searching the forum before posting, it is very vast and informative so I gave up...I'm hoping someone can help, I'd really appreciate it...

Anyhow I haven't played Fallout 2 since I was in high school and I am going to play it again its classic!

I want to stop the time limit though and I heard on another forum that the sfall mod aka timeslip does it though....Some things I read in the sfall readme file confused me though and I have questions

It is not possible to completely remove the fallout 2 13 year time limit, because fallout 2 stores the time passed since the start of the game in a 32 bit variable, and on the 8th of March 2255 this variable overflows, causing fallout to crash. (Normally, the game will end on the 25th of July 2254) This mod does give you several options for removing the limit, but each option has its own set of side effects. If you are planning on powergaming, as well as setting the TimeLimit line to -3, I suggest setting the WorldMapTimeMod value to somewhere around 10, which will increase the amount of gameplay time you have between tickcount rollovers by an order of magnitude.

Do I have to download the "WorldMapTimeMod" Or does it come with it? If it comes with it how do I activate it? And how much longer will I have to play with it at -3??

Also the readme states that sfall only works on version 1.02...I checked the GOG version [which is what i have] on its website and it says it's patched to version 1.02d will that matter??? Will it still work?

Also stumbling into this forum I checked the sticky and am definitely wanting to add the restoration project onto it as well as the unofficial patch which will put it to 1.6....If I do that can I not stop the time limit? I basically hated the time limit cause it gave me almost no time to explore everything... :(

Thanks for the help I hope I can replay this classic in a revamped version in the 21st century :D I am familiar with changing .ini files and stuff like that so anything like that is not too foreign to me so I am grateful for any help offered

For starters, if you just want the original game, fully patched, grab the unofficial patch from my signature. If you wanted a fully patched game, plus restored content, then grab the restoration project from my sig. You do not need any other files or worry about anything else. Just install the game and then install *one* of the items from my signature. It's that easy. Period.

If you want to mess with the time limit, then yes, set TimeLimit to -3 in ddraw.ini (you will find this file inside your main F2 directory). You then want to add WorldMapTimeMod right after TimeLimit and set it to 10. (WorldMapTimeMod=10). This parameter needs to be set manually, which is why it isn't already included in the file.

I do have to note that the final version of my restoration project is entering beta stages this week. I give no reasonable time estimate for release, so I'm not saying you should hold off. Lots of fixes though.

Roger that. I may have to wait then. Thanks so much for the response though that sounds easy enough then. The WorldMapTimeMod=10 is also in the ddraw.ini file too? Sounds so sweet!!

Much obliged for putting work into restoring the whole fallout game...You're a god amongst gamers :D
