Time consuming RPG

LOL, if you are a FF fanboy, you can play FF 7-12 on ps2.

Most of the FF games are long because they are tedious.., and littered with minigames.

Shin Megami Tensei series is pretty good, IF you can find it.

The Suidoken series has its moments.

The Shadow Hearts series was kinda interesting in its design and execution, but 3 was crap.

Romancing Saga ... is kinda like the movie Hero or 2046..., that's about it.

That should tie you over for a bit. It's nice to have a younger brother who plays these, so I can get a look at it without actually playing it.

Disgaea. It's similar to Final Fantasy Tactics but it's a lot funner, has a more coherent and entertaining storyline, and has a good sense of humor.

Hmm... do you want a classic RPG, or a tactical RPG? Disgaea, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Front Mission 4 are all of the latter category.

What are your tastes? Do you like jRPGs, or would you want something more western? Do want something that is simply long, or would you prefer strong characterization or a good plot? Does it matter if is a PS1 game? Any details will help matters along.

Ahh thanks for all those sugguestions. I like all kinds of RPG just looking for a time consuming one... Gonna have a lot of time on my hands so until I get my computer fixed, I need a RPG that can fill the empty hours.

PS1 games are welcome... Just one requirement well not really a requirement but a prefered feature. I would like all cut scenes.. To have subtitles since I am almost deaf (I wear hearing aids) and dialogues and monologues frustrate me because I can't hear them too well.

I would heartily recommend Disgaea myself. For the same reasons Montez recommends, and on the fact that you can basically play it forever. After you beat the game, you can start the storyline again with your characters and items from the previous play-through. There are eight different endings, which make this feature worthwhile; not to mention randomly generated "Item World" dungeons (which improve the statistics of your items, not to mention garner experience). I believe it is your best choice, if that sort of gameplay appeals to you.

There are plenty of other jRPGs, besides those which have been mentioned previously, which might appeal to you; such as Steambot Chronicles or Star Ocean: Till the End of Time.

Well, a little research gives me Deaf Gamers, which is a review website. You might want to use that website to check on the deaf aspect of the games.

A rundown on their reviews (which don't cover the full PS2 library) reveal that Disgaea, Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga, Final Fantasy XI (though you have to activate subtitles in the options menu), Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 2, Star Ocean: Till the end of Time, Steambot Chronicles, Suikoden IV, and Suikoden V are all good for a deaf gamer, with only insignificant issues if any. Final Fantasy X is the only one with problems, even though it has text, because it is hard to read and can go by too quickly. The rest of the recommended games don't have reviews.

I don't know if it fit's the bill but how about Kill Zone you can play 4 different people and each has different stories.
