To our talented modders....a request:)

First time out of the vault
Have any of you thought about doing a Fallout mod using Jagged Alliance 2 1.13?

I imagine it would be painstaking work but I do believe some of it has been done and is available over at The Bear Pit...(I think it's included in a JA2 mod)...

JA2 would be a superb engine for a Fallout mod...

So anychnace...please;)

Oh or how about The Fall of giai game? I believe there are some modding docs out there for that game aswell...

If you can supply us with unlimited beer and chips, and a weekly visit to a brothel, why not. :look:

There was a mod once who wanted to do this. Guess it died. But it didn't looked that good anyway... used Tactics graphics, if I remember correct.

JA2 is mainly about combat while Fallout is, or should be, about quests, dialogues and story. All of these three are hard to achieve with JA2 engine, since NPC dialogues there are very simple.

On the other hand it might be action based. For example a group of BoS paladins liberating wasteland cities. Oh wait, there's already a game for this. Fallout Tactics.

While JA2 is definitely game worth playing many times, modding it with F2 is in my opinion not worth the effort.

But I have to say there's (in JA2) tons of trash objects, destroyed stuff and war themed equipment (tanks, AA guns, sandboxes). With some polishing (or rather depolishing) it might fit into Fallout universe.

Yes, there was once a mod under the name Fallout: Raider Menace, but it looks like pretty much dead. Even NMA hosted some of the screenshots, take a look yourself. Anyway, being familiar with modding both of the games, I can say that the whole idea would be possible to an extent, but I doubt your request shall recruit any force serious enough to undertake the endeavor. The best advice you can get from experinced modders around here is:

Take a shovel and start digging.

I recreated this from scratch. The original Fallout mod I made for JA2 v1.13 got lost, when my old computer died. I have ported some weaponry mainly from Fallout New Vegas. Music is from Fallout 1 and 2, as well as from Fallout Tactics. My ported tilesets from FT are lost, so there are only Ja2 tilesets.

In the video you can see, how my char crafts the holorifle in the beginning. The parts used, have to be assembled from other junk parts found in the game environment, but that's not in the video. I also created craftable Nuka grenades and Microfusion grenades as well as customized explosion effects for them. Please excuse the occasional stuttering of the video. My spare "computer", which I used is actually a jury rigged laptop from 2001 with a defective graphics card and only shared memory, so the recording program causes a lot of trouble when it tries to write the video data on my harddrive. The mod runs fine without the recording program.
