Today, 13-06-2008, is Friday the 13th. Any thoughts on this?

Today, 13-06-2008, is Friday the 13th.
Do you have any thoughts or any interesting REAL stories about this?

Well, I'll go first...

I don't really have a story to tell about any Friday the 13th, what I have to tell are my thoughts/memories about the number 13 and how he as been popping up in my life...

For starters, I'm not really a superstitious person, I never disliked the number 13 nor I ever liked it, never had bad luck or good luck on the 13th or more specifically on Fridays the 13th, and so on...
Well, this was true until some 10 years ago.

And what happened some 10 years ago? You would ask.

Well, what else could have happened?
I found a Fallout Demo on a CD of a PC magazine, I liked it so much, that some time after I got my hands on a copy of Fallout 2, and after that day my relation with the number 13 would be a love one

This was on my 1st/2nd year in College (during 1998/99). I finished the game twice (no, not 13 times) and then I shelved it, but never stopped thinking about the wastelands...
3 years after that, in the beginning of my 5th year in College I moved to the University Residencies, and where else could I end up? Yeah, obviously I end up at the room 6.3 of the building called Block 13. Ok, it wasn't the room 13 at the 13th level, but what the hell, it was the 13th Block...
So, my next step was to identify my room door, and there was nothing better than identifying it with some art from my favorite game ever: Fallout 2 (sorry, not Fallout, at this time I had only been able to buy a pirate copy and a legal copy of Fallout 2):

Well I lived there during my last 2 years of College, and precisely 5 years ago I was still living there and the day 13-06-2003 was also a Friday the 13th, like it is today.

I don't really have nothing relevant to tell about that particular day, because I really can't remember if anything extraordinary happened during that day.
What I really have to tell, is that those 2 years I lived at Block 13, on the B13.6.3 room, were the best 2 years I had in College, so that makes them the best 2 years of my life...
And all the hours, and days, I spent playing Fallout 2 with a yellow 13 drawn on the back of a blue jumpsuit, were the best moments I ever spent playing a video game or even using a PC...

And by the way, today, as it was 5 years ago, is Friday the 13th and I'm here at NMA writing some lame thoughts/memories I have about the number 13. And NMA is the home of the Vault Dweller with a yellow 13 drawn on a blue jumpsuit...

I hope you have some better stories to tell about the number 13 or Friday the 13th.

Nothing special about today. Meh.

I've heard there are people with friday the 13th phobias...

edit: The fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskavedekatriaphobia.

There's also the Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia- Fear of long words.

Irony. ;)

I tend to have pretty good luck on the 13th, contrary to some of the superstitions. I'm the weird one of the family, I guess.

I had an exam today. It was horrible and terrifying.

But now I'm eating pancakes which soothes the pain.

This has been the best Friday the 13th ever for me. My boss pulls me aside and said, "What are you doing next Wednesday?"

Hesitant I tell him that I'm working and he responds letting me know that I should leave work early and go to the Mariners game (baseball) and hands me two tickets... Frackin eh!

The office I work at is closed tomorrow when it is normally open so I score a two day weekend!

On top of that, I picked up a pile of new CD's from a store that is going out of business... Good times

I got a Behemoth shirt and I saw Hulk. Not bad.

OH OH OH! Aslos I got a Punisher belt buckle which fucking owns.

Turned out that a 3 milion country can indeed prevent further integration of a 490 milion union.

Absolutely nothing happened today. Nothing bad. Nothing good. Complete neutrality. It's a good thing. Like Martha Stewart's apple brown betty.

I'm more partial to her crazy crayon recipe myself...

You know Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen? You know what their birthday is?

June 13th. Co-incidence? I think not!

paraskavedekatriaphobia as opposed to Triskaidekaphobia, thaqt being the fear of the number 13. both mentioned in the wiki, external links.

basically phobia names are constructed of their object, translated to classic greek. more or less constructed, but better than the normal medical roman-greek mixup abbreviation

I'm not sure if that is a bad or a good thing. I guess I'll wait and see.

But I think that unlike "my" Prime Minister, Eng. Socrates, wanted. The treaty with the name of the capital of Portugal, Lisbon, won't be in history for very good reasons...

I'll really wait and see how it turns out...

Pfft. Think Friday 13th is bad? Wait for May 23rd.

Ah What? What is wrong with that day?
This year May 23rd has come and gone, and I didn't noticed anything special about it...

And about Friday the 13th. I never said that there is something wrong/bad about it. Beside all the Friday the 13th movies...
My main goal with this thread was to joke around with all the superstitious beliefs that abound regarding Friday the 13th, and tell the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. relation I have with the number 13, at least since 10 to 11 years ago, and specially during Fridays the 13th.

For me, until now, Friday 13th was never bad...
