It Wandered In From the Wastes
Today, 13-06-2008, is Friday the 13th.
Do you have any thoughts or any interesting REAL stories about this?
Well, I'll go first...
I don't really have a story to tell about any Friday the 13th, what I have to tell are my thoughts/memories about the number 13 and how he as been popping up in my life...
For starters, I'm not really a superstitious person, I never disliked the number 13 nor I ever liked it, never had bad luck or good luck on the 13th or more specifically on Fridays the 13th, and so on...
Well, this was true until some 10 years ago.
And what happened some 10 years ago? You would ask.
Well, what else could have happened?
I found a Fallout Demo on a CD of a PC magazine, I liked it so much, that some time after I got my hands on a copy of Fallout 2, and after that day my relation with the number 13 would be a love one
This was on my 1st/2nd year in College (during 1998/99). I finished the game twice (no, not 13 times) and then I shelved it, but never stopped thinking about the wastelands...
3 years after that, in the beginning of my 5th year in College I moved to the University Residencies, and where else could I end up? Yeah, obviously I end up at the room 6.3 of the building called Block 13. Ok, it wasn't the room 13 at the 13th level, but what the hell, it was the 13th Block...
So, my next step was to identify my room door, and there was nothing better than identifying it with some art from my favorite game ever: Fallout 2 (sorry, not Fallout, at this time I had only been able to buy a pirate copy and a legal copy of Fallout 2):
Well I lived there during my last 2 years of College, and precisely 5 years ago I was still living there and the day 13-06-2003 was also a Friday the 13th, like it is today.
I don't really have nothing relevant to tell about that particular day, because I really can't remember if anything extraordinary happened during that day.
What I really have to tell, is that those 2 years I lived at Block 13, on the B13.6.3 room, were the best 2 years I had in College, so that makes them the best 2 years of my life...
And all the hours, and days, I spent playing Fallout 2 with a yellow 13 drawn on the back of a blue jumpsuit, were the best moments I ever spent playing a video game or even using a PC...
And by the way, today, as it was 5 years ago, is Friday the 13th and I'm here at NMA writing some lame thoughts/memories I have about the number 13. And NMA is the home of the Vault Dweller with a yellow 13 drawn on a blue jumpsuit...
I hope you have some better stories to tell about the number 13 or Friday the 13th.
