Tower of Creation: Still ... towering?

I received a friendly reminder from Jesterka that the team making the "Fallout: Between Good and Evil" expansion/conversion are still in business, and have been reinforced by some talented graphic artists:
It’s true, dear friends… the project’s still alive. Sometimes more, sometimes less, sometimes it’s a complete hiatus, but in the end it’s still moving. Since the last WINTER UPDATE we’ve progressed quite a bit with the English translation as well as with scripting, graphics and mapping. Texting isn’t really moving right now, but that’s not really important at this point.

To check out the new stuff, go to the gallery sections ARTWORKS, INGAME ART and SCREENSHOTS. There are about 11 new things. Though some of the dialogs are only available under in Czech and some only in English (see those little flags?), don’t ask why.

LOOKING FOR MINION HELPERS MK I.

DIALOG SCRIPTER – for BGE to be released in a more or less reasonably close future, we need about 2-3 more programmers. Due to the communication/organization issues we’re primarily looking for Czech and Slovak programmers…

LOOKING FOR MINION HELPERS MK II.
3D GRAPHIC ARTIST – Primarily for the purpose of creating Loading and Ending screens. Same conditions as last time apply.
MAPPER – …because we need to take some of the load off Zob’s shoulders.

THE NEW IN’s AND OUT’s

BGE Teams has grown quite a bit since the last update. We were joined by a programmer MIHLON (which means that the last call for programmers was a success :-) ) and SETO – a very capable organizer of our translating minions.
In also came a translator LORD TEMPLAYER, a proof-reader JIM BAKER and a modeler of in-game objects TOMO. Moreover already since fall we’ve been getting quite a lot of help with our music and sounds from a relatively famous composed PIOTR KOCZEWSKI.

We received very valuable help from a sketch-artist FRED MAXIMUS and a modeler of Loading and Ending screens VLADO PAVLIK and MICHAL KIRCHNER, both from the heart of the Czech blender community. We would also like to thank all the creative people at the NMA forums, who are in any way responsible for the new animations and appearance modifications of the old critters.

Due to the time constrains a valuable modeler DONALD X is leaving our team, which is a sensitive loss in the area of Loading and Ending screens, although thankfully it won’t have any bigger impact on the overall development. Furthermore INHUMAN, KETLING and JAC8AWOL are now inactive.

P.S. We apologize for not-so-frequent updates, but there’s no time to spare – no kidding! :-) Next time we’ll hopefully be able to show you pictures from a brand new and (hopefully) tweaked out location and some new animated creatures made by SIRREN.
Or, for the new arts, you could visit the F:BGE Gallery at NMA.

Good to see BGE is still alive - and good to see some news coverage for community driven projects :)

Keep up the good work - all of you!

Nothing to apologize for IMO - releasing news is a time consuming task if you want to do it right. Looking forward to the next news, though

cheers,

Looks good, and thanks for the update. The town art looks very good and while only 2 in game shots they look decent and I'm patiently waiting to see what becomes of this.

looks like a promising mod i've been watching the updates posted here for it. like seeing new screen shots. might i also say it's one of few mods where the new art/graphics actually blends in the game.

IDK guys, I have yet to see a FO mod that actually added something of value. Sure its cool that they are doing this to expand on a game we all love but in all honestly I see it as a waste of time.

Like what?

this looks interesting and i look forward the day i can Play it.

And von drunky, drinking is a waste of time.

I don't really like foot ball rather play FO. It does add a new story line and items since it a total conversion mod it's like another fallout game. This mod does a much better job blending the new stuff into the game so it seems way more pro.

Me too, except football makes some people very wealthy and gives others something to do. But the mods posted here that attempt to significantly change gameplay just come out really bad, and for a good reason; they do not have the budget and the time that game developers have. The dialog comes out really weak, maybe its because it was written in a different language and the translation is really bad, but whatever it maybe the bottom line is I have yet to see a mod that I was happy with.

And then F03 comes out and some of the people in the community are up in an uproar but a fan mod using the mechanics of F02 gets all praise. I say just let it go.

However, what I would really like to see is a user friendly editor that would let you make short episode within the FO universe. Something that will be short, like 30 min worth of game play which can work off the Fallout lore. A program that will allow anyone to create dialog trees and control who will be hostile, neutral or friendly towards you, as well as scripted scenes. I mean Reno alone can cultivate dozens of shorts consisting of character found in the wasteland.

So far the BGE's art is looking great and is coherent with FO universe ...IMO
and like like what i saw in other mods too.
on the writing part.... well i didn't see something relevant yet... we have to wait and see
... anyway to release a big mod it's a struggle... are involved people from all parts of the world and they are working in their spare time... as far i'm concern i think the projects are too big and we should have started with smaller maps, shorter story... etc
i get involved in ressurection mod to haste the process of making the mod... and it's a long and slow process... that's why we see people moving arround from team to team... that's why we need all the moral support we can get

Personaly since I have long beaten the first two games, and that Fallout 3 is such an average game, those kind of projects are the only reason I check this site. I even fail to see what other reason they could be, but I suppose we all have ours.

Yeah! Me too! :D
Unfortunately, this is more a magic tool than anything else. Even one program that would combine the three program necessary to mod fallout would still require a lot of motivation, cause there is no program that write good dialogue, or make "good" dialogue tree. The quality of this factor depend of the skills of the human doing it, not of the friendlyness of an editor...

We already have this editor. It's called WORK. I can understand if it's not your cup of tea.
