Tried installing NPC mod, messed up my existing game

I tried installing the NPC mod so I could have Dogmeat wait for me. After installing the mod I didn't start a new game because I was already 72 hours into it. Though when I tried loading my save I got a "ffffffffffff reference memory ffffffffffffffff" error and the game stops responding. I tried re-installing FO1 and not apply the NPC mod patch, but it still won't let me play?? Any ideas?

Alright thanks a lot, is there anyway to restore my save files? I backed up my save slots and profile.gcd before I uninstalled everything.

Sure thing, any time. There's a lot of patches so it can definitely get confusing.

You should be able to just drop your savegames into the Fallout/DATA/SAVEGAME folder - if you copied them correctly, you'll see SLOT01, SLOT02, etc., within which will be the save files.
