Trouble extracting Fallout 2 MASTER.DAT

First time out of the vault
ok I used DATMANLITE to extract the contents of the MASTER.DAT file. It took a VERY VERY VERY long time. So long that I left my computer running the whole night. And I woke up today and it tells me that there isn't enough free space on my drive! I right clicked and choose properties on the folder and its 56.4 GIGS!!!!!! Is there something im doing wrong? or is this how big the MASTER.DAT file really is? I wanna add new areas and towns in fallout 2 but I won't worry about it if the files need to have that much space.
 
why did you extract the entire master.dat....

even so i think you got a problem during the extracting process, 56gb is a little bit heavy :roll:
 
Don't know why you want to extract the whole Master.dat but I would try only extracting individual folders rather than the whole dat in one go.

Try dat explorer, you can find it on the downloads section here.
 
I got the whole master.dat extracted, and my fallout2 folder take 1.5-6 gigs...I think there was a problem when ytouy extracted..in fact, I'm certain :wink:
