Trouble with High Res Patch for Fallout 1

Quaid

Give dese people air!!
I've installed the patch successfully and read the included documents. I've downloaded and ran vcredist.exe per the troubleshooting tip although I shouldn't have to since I run Windows XP.

The game still looks to be 640x480 resolution. Any ideas?

If your running Fallout 1 with the version 1.1 patch. Then you need to set Compatibility mode to "Windows95" or "Windows 98/Windows Me".
Right click the "falloutw.exe", choose properties from the menu then the Compatibility tab. Check "Run this program in compatibility mode" and choose your selection from the drop down menu.
It's a recently found bug and I'll look into it before the next release.

Brilliant job. Thank you! It looks great and gives my favorite game a very nice makeover.

Hiho Mash :)

I really locked in the forums, but I just can't find help.

Well, my problem is I got this Fallout version from GoG.com

http://www.gog.com/en/frontpage/

And the game runs great, but I wanted to use your resopatch and all I get is a small error that says:

Error initializing video mode 640x480

Can you help me?

*Eyes like Puss in Boots*

Thanks :)

P.S.: I tried all that compadability stuff and the Vcred.exethingamajig. Did not work ;(

I will assume your running fallout 1. The version on gog is 1.2 I think, so compatibility mode changes should not be necessary.
Try setting the resolution manually in the "f1.res.ini" file, the auto-res doesn't work well on some setups. Also if your using Sfall make sure MODE is set to 0 in the "ddraw.ini" file.

Hi Mash.

I downloaded Sfall and did erverything you said and it works fine :)

The only strange thing is: I set the Reso to 1680 x 1050 = works

When I set it to, let's say 1440x900, then the Error come again

I like the Widescreen, but with that High resolution it's not easy to play with my eyes.

Got any idea?

P.S.: Great MOD by the way, but I never have any luck modding something, no mather what kind of game ^^

Is 1440x900 listed as a possible res in your Windows display settings? If not try one that is. Also you could try setting your chosen res in Windows before starting the game although this would become annoying after a while. I think the problem has to do with what resolutions your monitor can support natively.

Hi, I'm having trouble with the high res patch also if someone could help me. I have version 1.2 that came with the Fallout Collection that has all three games.

When I double click f1_res_patcher.exe I get the message "Unrecognised Data Found! Fallout.exe may not be the correct version."

I assume it's because I've got v1.2 but there's nothing I can do about that. Can I still get the patch to work somehow?

Thanks very much.

Has anyone figured out a way to use this patch with the "1.2" version of the game downloaded from gog.com?

I really would like to see the game in high resolution...

Thank you so much!
