I gonna get a lot of constructive critisism for this one...
My idea goes like this: each Action Points is worth let's say 5 seconds and one turn is one minute long. After 5 seconds I loose one AP. If I have 10 AP i can do stuff for 50 seconds. But if I fire a gun that takes five APs I don't do it for 25 seconds. It's kind of Baldur's Gate I know so you don't have to say that. Please help me evolve this idea further.

So Kilroy was here.

Well...
I HOPE HE WILL TAKE HIS "IDEAS" ELSEWERE.

You will find no Shelter here if you are looking for shade.

Fallout is Eternal

So you want to convert the system to real-time? I don't think you need to worry about it. I'm pretty certain FO3 will have a real-time mode. It falls under the same reasons FO3 will be 3d. There's just way too much pressure for these things.

Well that is the thing. Bauldur's gate in my eye was a total failure of a rpg. it did have the consquences most people refuse to accept and just want hack and slash. Your actions did effect others, but combat.
In D&D combat was tactical. You used your brain. No throw a fire ball than ends up killing your entire party cause the target runs up to you.
Chaos of battle? What a load. Real time combat ruins rpgs...period. Now one cares how fast YOU the player moves a mouse or hotkeys and triggers actions to make you super powerful. It'a about The character, the person you take the role for (hence another reasons per made -heros- see torment ruin rpgs we want our own character not the programers) So your experiance, your stats and well just a little brains should determin outcome. Not who has the better per programed joystick or trigger. RPGS are not SUPPOST to be made to be cheesed around. They are suppost to be mind games, puzzles you solve. Not Streetfighter better 18 hit combo games.

Well, I think Carlston Solar is mostly right on this subject. Realtime usually does get the players reactions into the game were it's the characters perception and agility that should matter.
However, traditional turn based games have some unrealistic quirks since only one character moves at a time.
For example: If you have enogh action points, you can come out from behind a corner, fire, and go back whithout anybody beeing able to shoot back. Another thing is that there are no moving targets. If movement were simultanious there could be a lowered chanse to hit if the target is walking/running and so on.

I think the idea of "pausable real time" sounds good (pausung, desiding what to do, unpausing). Provided that you can paus at any moment and set the game to auto-pause as soon as your character sees or hears something unexpected happening. Since the game can't know what you're expecting, this means pausing when another character starts doing something new.
I haven't played Baldurs Gate (Really!), so i don't know how they solved it (or screwed it up?) there.

I actually thought the BG sysem was okay and it was great seeing my party wade into a horde of monsters and slicing them up. Anyway what I wanted to say is that FO3 should have both modes on offer something likee in Xcom3 so the individual gamer can decide what they want not the majority who have a certain preference. It might even open up FO to a whole new audience.

I never said that it should be a "Street Fighter 18 hack-n-slash", I just noticed that many people wanted Fallout 3 to be realtime and I created a mix between Realtime and turnbased that I thought both playertypes would enjoy.

I would hate to see Fallout 3 go 3D and go to realtime. Fallout1 and 2 are, in my opinion, the best rpg's of all time, and i hated Baldurs Gate
