Twin weapons?

I do admit, this isn't a bad idea, a la JA2 where you can have some crack shot wield both of the modded handcannons.

The unfortunate points here are game balance and the like, as if you had the alien blaster and .223 pistol.

*hmmms*

Though, weapons were nicely done in Fallout, and did balance enough. Perhaps it's good enough like that?

I quote:

"People are always asking me stupid questions."

"Like what?"

"Oh, like 'Why can't I have two guns' 'I want two guns'"

Sorry, couldn't resist. In a few places, two guns might be permissible. I don't really see anything wrong with a character with 8 strength having two Magnum Speed Loaders. But if they do it, it'll have to be done very carefully. I suggest that weilding two of the same weapon require 1.5 times as much strength, and that another modifier be added so it takes 1.5 times as good a small guns skill to be accurate. Overall, though, two guns is just not a really good idea. Things would get to complicated for poor old Interplay.

I don't know if they could balance it properly. Look at the weapons right now. When I play, anymore I always use single shot exclusively. As soon as my skill is high enough, I take targeted shots at the eyes of my opponents because they're usually much more effective than bursting. I don't see how it would be any different with two weapons because it seems like it would probably only be used to get a pseudo-burst with semi-automatic weapons.

I can kill a laser rifle-wielding supermutant with only a 10mm pistol, one magazine, and no armor. Could I kill a supermutant with two pistols if I couldn't target his eyes(And I certainly think it's likely that you wouldn't be able too)? I highly doubt it. I guess what I'm saying is that there just wouldn't be much point to it.

Hmm, apply it to real world settings as I always like to...

I don't know if I could hold two automatic weapons in both hands and have any degree of accuracy with them... I could certainly try, but I think I would have enough trouble with one...

Let's say we take away the autos, and stick to single fires, only handguns are left. Again, I am not sure that I would accomplish much with two handguns in both hands, I think I'd be so focused on getting my dominant hand to perform somewhere near normal levels (requiring two hands) that my 'on' hand would not only suffer, my 'off' hand would be sure to miss (just because of my mental focus on my 'on' hand)...

Twin weapons, if it is instituted, should result in a drastic reduction in "to-hit" rolls, on either hand, I am talking in the -50% range... In fact I think it should (IF it is even implemented) be a perk. A perk with serious ramifications on your skills.

BAD idea, even with serious consequences... Bad or good idea, it still should have SERIOUS consequences...

i personally thought it was a good idea.... the fast shot trait picture just looks so damn cool =] same with kamikazi

maybe if they made it so that the fast shot trait allowed you to dual wield 1 handed weapons...

Nah, it reminds me of cheap action movies where the 'hero' fires two uzis without a problem at the same time. It's just ridiculous. Maybe, with a very high level and high small guns skill, and the two hander perk (wich does exist, I believe), but then, I don't know...

I agree with you on the point concerning how it should be balanced in the game, because that is what'll happen in real life. But, with the advancement of guns and weaponary in gerenal, it isn't so diffcult to do this anymore. All you need is the newer uzi style pistols which is light, with heavy coverage, and high impact power without that much feedback; but you still need to do this in a urban settings(like a room) for you to have any real damage to the enemies, without shooting yourself in the foot.:)

Starseeker, signing off.

i Agree. Possibly making a 10mm x 2 into burst fire, with no targeting... maybe make it so that you can use both in burst, or use just one in targeted...

If you're using two weapons, targeting should definatly not be an option. Maybe if Interplay uses some simple logic, they could set up a two handed system that works, maybe make a relationship between weight and skill. No matter how strong you are, it's still easier to shoot two Berettas than two MP5s or two Tommy Guns (if that's even practically possible, would be cool, though).

Well, this would be a pretty good idea. Being that you don't necessairly have to point both arms in the same direction, maybe it would be possible for you to target 2 things at once (with greatly reduced accuracy, they would also have to be within a certain angle of each other) while weilding 2 pistols. I think it would be pretty cool to be able to chunktify 2 people in the same turn.

Why not just make it so that having pistols akimbo simply gives the user a "burst" mode, just like those of full-auto weapons - It decreases the accuracy while increasing the fire rate. For SMGs the number of rounds fired in the burst is doubled, as could be the accuracy penalty. I dont think that certain weapons could possibly be wielded akimbo, magnums, desert eagles ect, because they are heavy and need two hands to steady them, so perhaps only 9mm (or thereabouts) weapons can be used in this way.
