Two questions

Stranger

First time out of the vault
1. At what point in time of the Fallout universe are the storylines taking place? Around Fallout 1? Around Fallout 2? Sometime in between? Sometime prior?

2. Where can I find the thread of the first Lone Wanderers chapter? I don't see it on the boards.

Thank you.

I'm not entirely sure about the timing but we tend not to involve activity from the exising Fallout universe.

The first Lone Wanderers thread is on the archived boards.

Sorry I cannot help you any further - I am the new guy: I only joined at the beginning of chapter 2 but if you are considering joining, I can tell you that I have thoroughly enjoyed writing here. :)

Well, I'm not about to try and involve specific events from one of the games, but there are effects on the population of the wasteland, dependant on when it is. Ex - the existance and state of the super mutants, or the position of the Brotherhood, or status of NCR, et cetera.

Yes, I can understand that. However I was told that in an effort to keep this RPG separate from the Fallout series, most references were to be avoided. I believe the idea is that this is set far enough away from California that Fallout game events and the details you identified do not actually matter.

Read some of the early OOC thread - it has a good explanation of the world created, loosely based on the Fallout universe (different organisations, changed location etc) I haven't read it in a while but I think it should answer most of your questions.

when and where

Not sure if this helps, but this world was originally built on a world envisioned by Fang, although this itself is still subject to interpretation.

It does stand outside the traditional area of Fallout 1 and 2. It's not California. My best guess would be that its somewhere in the American midwest, probably Texas.

When? I am not sure. But the way the story is progressing I am guessing its past Fallout 2, but based on a post by Gunslinger, its somewhere between Fallout 1 and 2.

If it helps, I will repost Fang's earlier posts on the world.

Some of the issues- well there are ghouls and deathclaw, but so far there have been no mutants. Deathclaws are somewhat different than in Fallout 1 and 2. Mutants may show up later, or there may be another enemy. So far no aliens either. Few vehicles, in fact none have made their appearance. No BOS yet, although there have been suggestions that the BOS have outposts out here (I think this was a mistype). I would stick to no BOS being around.

That said, there will probably be some changes to the notion of the Fallout world, but hopefully changes consistent with the Fallout Bible.

Interested in joining?

I'd say the setting is more "pulp" Fallout, making it a pulp-pulp post-apocalyptic world. Fallout One had the 50's techno-punk vibe and Fallout Two had a grittier, political scheme to it. I guess we're trying to merge both ideals together.

Just think of the aftermath of this current world. Things have settled down since the war (maybe not *The* war before the Fallout games) and there are establishments rooted in place. Radiation fallout has mostly dispersed, but I imagine there's still areas with high rad counts such as The Reactor. Let's see, weaponry isn't too advance and most of the gear you'll see are hodgepodged pieces of machinery like a Pipe Rifle or sawed-off shotgun (basically, anything you can get your hands onto). As for regionalism pertaining to our own world, I'd say we're either in Texas or even Australia to account for the large sprawl of nothingness and desert coupled with bustling metropolitan areas.

There's not much connection to Fallout, rather "coincidences" even though this *is* Fallout RPG. I guess we borrowed some weapons, the brahmin, the ghouls, the deathclaws, and some organizations loosely based on Fallout's; everything else was created out of our own ingenuity.
