OOC - I'm been away due to college work and other influences but I'm back.
I'm also re-introducing my character, Ulrich Cougar from the failed Slave Master story. He's been through quite abit since then.
Background Story: Ulrich Cougar, formally a Slave Ranger worked alongside Louis Dawson, Joshua Cobalt, Carlson Ferric and Conrad Epsilon until the week that followed after the Ranger's delivery caravan was attacked by the Slave Masters. Originally there were five but after Ulrich and some others defeated them leaving only one, he was Kirk Walker and to this very day Cougar has been hunting him.

Right, I'm re-introducing him in a Mad Max2 kind of way.

IC - "To understand Cougar, you have to trace a line back to a time when Slave Masters were the bane of the West, a time when tribes would be rounded up like brahmin and sold to the highest dealer. Cougar fought along side many others willing to give their lives for the good of the wasteland. But all was lost, he was left an empty shell of a man and with two gun's in hand and a stolen highwayman automobile Cougar became a nomad."
The dust settled as the old and battle-scarred highwayman screeched to a halt, Ulrich lept out with HK P90c in hand and strolled causiously to the wrecked spew of burnt-out automobiles. There had been a battle here, not long ago. He noticed several arrows littering the side of one of the burnt-out cars. Not that that was important but you cn tell alot about a battle from what is left behind. A dusty-clothed corpse buzzed with flies as it decayed in the hot August sun. Cougar checked the body for any inventory the hapless man had to have. he found an old and torn 'life style' magazine strewn with pictures of semi-naked women. Several shotgun shells and an old pocket watch, inside an engraving read; "I love you more today than yesterday but more than tommorow". The side flipped on it's hidges to reveal a hidden photograph of a women. Cougar couldn't but help but feel sorry for this man who could have been just another innocent bystander. In his pocket was a letter, with the address printed on, the envolope was dusty and looked burnt. This man was a postman and this letter hadn't been delivered.
He scanned the address, it was to a city called Tabernacle.

OOC - I'm trying to bring people to Mister T's post by the way.

OOC: Ok i'm introducing several of our characters into the story so here goes. And i am controlling other characters in this but i wan't to show you guys that this idea might work, (if we have sensible people who don't adapt all the characters to their own character's style.

IC:
Fang had his foot down hard on the peddel of the old truck. It was roaring along and the engine was screaming violently.

"Hey Fang slow down," Reptile called from the back. Reptile opened up the door to the front compartement. "Slow down man you'll burn out the engine"

Fang let his foot slightly of the peddele and the vehicle came to a sudden stop. The rest of the guys poked their heads through. Fang wasn't exactly used to driving a vehicle like this. The Brotherhood of steel had vertibirds, Fang had spent a lot of his training time in the simulators back at base. The Brotherhood vehicle were really high tech. If you suddenly let your foot off the pedddle it wouldn't slow down suddenly.

"I'll be in the back," fang said getting up

"Then who's gonna drive," reptile replied

"i guess you just volunteered," afng said throwing the keys to Reptile.

Fang moved into the back of the truck and sat down on the side bench.

The truck was dark and heavily rusted but it still moved. The group had found it some time ago in a city. A dealer was selling it and when he saw a suit of armour and a weapon that AFng had he sold it right away. The truck had several foor lockers, one for eacj of the travellers and a couple of old bookshelves. Tehir were benches at both sides and some comfortable material scattered on the floor. Their was a desk in one corner with a computer on. Again this was tattered but still good enough to use.

"We better stop some where!" Fang called. "Anywhere civillised near here?"

"Well there is some place called Tabernacle city," Bozar called.

Bozar was a BOS recruit assigned to fang after he had lost his squad. His other companion Falme had a mission from the Brotherhood. there was an adventure that had intrested him and he had trotted back to the BOS. Fang had decided to stay with his friends. These were his frineds. They had been through many adventures together. Bozar had been assigned to Fang instead of Flame while he was absent. He knew a lot about the locla area.

He had seemed please when they decided to go with his suggestion and head to Tabernace city. Fang wondered why. Then he remembered. In the profile he had read,This city was his home.

OOC - I'm introducing a 'Chorus' figure into the story. For anyone not in the know, a chorus is usually found in Greek tradegies, I'm utilising this idea into this story. For this instance, the chorus is Cohn, the wasteland scribe.

IC - "It was at this time I first met Ulrich Cougar, I had been travelling for a while now and my feet were beginning to ache then I saw the lights, the volunteer police and the parades of Christian banners and posters."

Cougar's modified highwayman screeched to a halt as the V8 supercharger span to a halt, the dust settled then the driver's side door clanked open. His large black combat boots were teeming with dust and dirt and his battered leather armour looked as worn as ever, he had attempted to rie back his long brown hair but strands spewed out everywhere. His three day stubble had caught sand and he gorped at the vista of decaying buildings and structures.

He hadn't had a decent drink for a few days now not since he had found that letter and before entering a nearby tavern his inspected the pocketwatch, the faded photograph did little to disguise the women pictured.
The cool shadows of the tavern allowed Cougar to rejuvinate in the coolness, but before he was able to take a seat at the bar and scrawny man in a Deathclaw hide robe gestured to the ex-Ranger.

"He looked like an adventurer, maybe a weekend warrior but one thing was for sure, this man had a past. A past worthy of my writtings."

"Sit down." Said the small balding man, he looked mid-forties but his wasteland-beaten face aged him.
"Please..." he almost begged.
Cougar hesistated, looking at the bar then back at the table where Cohn was seated.
Cougar sat down with a clomp as he took a deep breath.
"What is it little man?" He said agitated.
"My name's Cohn..." Cohn paused as the rubble of a truck roared past the taverns window.
Cougar rose and exited to inspect the large vehicle that dwarfed Cougar's own car.
Several figures exited from the side and rear.

OOC - It's your call... this should be interesting since I bet everyone will get involved with this one.

You guys are already starting!

You're in the city? I haven't even started planning it. Dang it. Wait, so this still takes place between FO 1 and FO2, right?

This seems fun..........

OOC: I'm using my character in "Slave Master". She had not changed much, and had settled in Tabernacle city as a constable.

IC:
Cohn! Hey Corn! Damn! He's always not there when you need him!

A woman was running through the streets. From her paces, it seemed that se is looking for someone. She is wearing a combat leather jacket with a M4A1 stripped to her back. Obviously she is a wasteland adventurer, if not, a constable. She finally stops infront of a tavern.

Hey there you are Cohn! I need your writing about that and.....What!? Cougar!?

Norika!?

Concerning everyone, and especially Yamu

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Feb-13-01 AT 02:43PM (GMT)[p]Okay, okay, I guess you can continue this thread. But please, don't go anywhere(don't go anywhere far away), or say where in Utah you are. I have some plans to do concerning Hill Air Force Base, Dugway Proving Ground, and Zion. Oh ya, and Yamu. I need you to check the 'Falloutness' of my extrapolations, and maybe give a bit of info on FEV, if its not too much trouble. Thank you, and thanks to everyone for using my little idea.

RE: Concerning everyone, and especially Yamu

OOC - Cougar ain't going anywhere until be delivers the letter so I'm just waiting for word from you, Mr. T.

IC - That's all Cougar wanted, remnants of the past. Norika had helped Cougar and saved his life during the battle with the Slave Masters but he sure as hell didn't want to meet her again.
He faked a smile. "Norika, I didn't know you lived here!"
Trying to be as polite as possible he reached down into his pocket and pulled the letter out.
The background commotion of the BoS truck had settled by now and the men had entered the cool confines of the tavern. Cougar was too busy to talk to them and instead decided to talk to Norika Moonlight.

"Long time no see..." she said not so nervously more anxious.
Cougar puffed and scratched the back of his head.
"Yeah..." he puased looking down at the letter. "You heard of the name addressed on this letter?"
Suddenly Cohn interrupted the small reunion. "Norika, there you are." He elongated the sentence through his teeth as if Norika some how made him nervous.
"You know this little man?" Cougar said hummingly to himself.
"Yeah sort've." She said inspecting the Deathclaw hide clad man.
Cougar coughed up flem, as if he was about to make a speech.
"Look Norika, 'm don't mean to be rude but... I don't want this. I don't want any connection to my past..."
Norika looked definitly upset eventhough she had attempted to hide it.
"Still looking for Cobalt?" She asked.
Joshua Cobalt was the Ranger's heavy, the dark muscular man went missing during the teams last ditch attempt to kill Kirk Walker, the Slave Master who got away. Cougar did hope that Cobalt was still alive somewhere out in the wasteland but it seemed improbable that he was. As for Kirk Walker, Cougar had been looking for him ever since.
"He's alive." She continued.

OOC - Hotting up, I would like Cougar to be introduced to your guys, Fang. This is becoming cool.

Calm down, people! Calm down goddammit!

I see you've just become impatient and started on without ANY kind of backstory or ANYTHING AT ALL for this city. How typical. And I see Cougar was just passing by the city with a whole shitload of people, as was Fang, along with Reptile, no we don't care about how they got together, and Insane's character JUST HAPPENED to HAVE BECOME A CONSTABLE in Tabernacle City. And of course they all knew each other from the start. And there was a cliché dialogue between Cougar and Insane's character (don't remember her name) with them meeting up all soppy.

So from the start, the "roleplaying" is destined to be "get some quest, kill something, repeat" without any character evolution and personalities AT ALL. This is EXACTLY why I stopped roleplaying here in the first place.

COME ON. CAN YOU REALLY NOT DO BETTER THAN THIS?

RE: Calm down, people! Calm down goddammit!

Rune could you have been a bit more tact with your words?

Dammit, you've piqued my curiosity!

Your setting is mostly entirely plauible one. First of all, it's likely that one or more of the military facilities in Utah was bombed to the ground during the salvos. It would make sense that Tabernacle City couldn't be located too close to one of those bases. There's also the possibility that new bases were constructed for the war effort, however. After all, the Mariposa Military base itself wasn't open until the mid 2070's...

It makes sense that, considering the state of things around the time of the war, that there would be little or no coal left in the area, despite the fact that they were once heavy producers of it. It seems that the quaint, religious people of this town would welcome outsiders, but, conversely, be wary of secular influence. Kind of like the future-amish. (Perhaps, there could be a sidestory concerning corruption in the church?)

Although billed as the last trading post on the frontlines of Western civilization, it's likely that that they wouldn't see as much trade as the unofficial title implies. That is, considering that not many people are wont to make the east/west exodus. Tabernacle City would be "a trading post" in the same respect that Euro Disneyland is a "Theme Park." :-)

Also, as you probably know, the Mormon religion are excellent keepers of knowledge, esp. American geneologies. If Salt Lake City was reasonably intact, or if the knowledge was stored somewhere else and retrieved, they would be very knowledgeable. Also, they'd have the ability to trace the geneology of a given person, provided that they already knew it to the last three or four generations, all the way back to times preceding the civil war.

As for the NCR, it seems that, although an interesting prospect, Tabernacle city would be too far outside of NCR's borders to make manning, defending, and communicating with it a feasible option as of yet. Then again, I'm not sure of the timeframe that "Tabernacle City" takes place in, so perhaps NCR's expanded their borders by then...

Also, just for posterity, you may want to think about TC's (Tabernacle City's) attitude towards mutants, and the effect on the town that the mutant exodus eastward had. Perhaps, also, it would be wise to more solidly define their religious structure. Is the head preacher also the mayor? How are the relations between the constables and the church? Since the constables are volunteers, who organizes them? Obviously, the towns laws would depend largely on biblical dictum, but one also wonders how those laws would be translated contemporally, and if/how some of them would be adapted to life on the wastes.

About the FEV, there is just too much to stay here. I'll put together something for you (hopefully it won't take as long as my BOS history for Dyar did...) and I'll get it up on the board. Or, as would be easier on both of us, you could e-mail me with any specific questions you have. Actually, anyone is welcome to do that, anytime. The handle is yamu21@usa.net

Also, my ICQ# is 103775919

I really hope you'll ICQ me, Mr. T. I'm very interested in this little corner of the universe you've worked up. Also, I have some questions for anyone in particular about falloutrpg.vault13.net, and they'd be best asked in real time, and asked of a veteran.

RE: Dammit, you've piqued my curiosity!

I'm merely trying to psuh people into Mr T's proposal here, as for Rune (prestegious??, maybe egotistical) didn't you just Flame there? Did your mother ever tell you that if you haven't got anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. And I know you're just going to say that you were being critical and not abusive, but you came across as abusive and I'm not not happy with it.

RE: Dammit, you've piqued my curiosity!

Well rune got a point about the rpg:ing on this board...
well realistic playing has never been first on the shedule here it seems its more of the hack'n slash treasur hunt playing (the one D&D style that i hate in fantasy)

Reptile
try FalloutRPG [http://falloutrpg.vault13.net/]

Back to the roleplaying

OOC: i find it more intresting to build up with only a little backstory. The backstory should be developed through posting IC rather than be heavily planned and disscused. that would be a little like sticking to the script assuming that the scrip is heavily versatile (Compared to the script to a play)

To Rune, For those of you who don't know this is Jim Bob, Who used to roleplay here. (i'm pretty sure i got those names right)
There is only one coincedence here that is Insane's character the girl, Norika (Is that right) And Coughar meeting

Considering that all the rest are already friends that isn't all that unlikely. Think of it like this, if you are in a city and you have friends there, then you'll meet the friends right. The unlikely part is travelling to somewhere else and meeting up there.

This is a continuation from slave Master's. Also some of us are good friends from previous posts but we can't describe hem yet because they aren't finished. Therefore because we are friends we are travelling together. We have no connection with couhgar so it isn't like friends meeting up which is usual.

IC:

The Vehicle stopped, A call from the front sounded
"Shall we stop here,"

"For a while," Fang replied

"then what" Reptile asked

"I want to go explore, we'll split up" Fang replied

"is that safe?" Reptile asked

"it is i know this place!" Bozar said

"Ok it's settled then, let's go," Fang said gathering together his possesions

Fangwas always wearing power armour, Sometime he wore the helmet sometimes not. Currently he wasn't wearing the helmet. Fang was one of the lucky ones when recieving his armour. He was given an upgraded suit made to mimic the Enclave version. Nobody had judged whether it was better than the Enclave version or not but what they did know was that it was better than the first version of Brotherhood power armour. With this new realese came many new features. Some of which Fang never used but some were quite useful. His suit had an AI called BOSS but when Fang went looking for his squad he left the AI with the Brotherhood. He was considering getting it back some time soon. Maybe after this adventure he would

The group were on a quest to find adventure, to help people. All of the group were good characters, they wanted the wasteland to be a nice place to live. This is why their careers were adventurers.

Fang collceted his Plama rifle, he left his gauss rifle in the truck. He took out his set of keys from his locker and a couple fo access cards that looked important. They were coloured with weird sybols down the side. Fang also collected a wallet that looked like it had Fang's money in it.

"I thought the group fund was in the group locker?" Reptile asked

(these lockers need keys not combinations, all the group in the truck has a key to the truck, to several places important to them (personell keys) To Fang's base and to their own and to the group locker. Fang kept a single key to his locker on him when he was in or near the truck and locked the rest away.

The group locker was where group equiptement was. It had some ammo and stimpacks and most importantly a money box. the group had made quite a lot of money in there time adventuring. Succesful adventurers make a lot of money. Unsuccesful ones die.

This fund was used when the group needed to buy anything for the group or to help the group or when the majority vote was given.

"ohh this isn't th group fund, i put a little money away for myself," If Reptile and Fang hadn't been old buddies then they Reptile probably wouldn't have trusted him.

With this gear plus a few stimpacks and the Fang, Fang left the van last of all. The others had less to collcet, they had had a drill earlier and Fang was the only one who had locked his stuff away. the others kept their weapons on them. Of course fang always had the Fang in it's scabbard by his side.

He and Reptile remained behind while locking up the van. The group went into the building.

"As i suspected!" Fang said as he entered "there's all ways a tavern on the edge of the town!"

"what now?" Reptile asked

RE: Back to the roleplaying

IC - Cougar had already left Norika to follow him into the coolness of the tavern, Cohn was dragging along behind Norika who inturn followed Cougar.
"Impressive vehicle, you guys got? Not to mention armour." Noted Cougar, to Fang you obviously felt proud to be with the Brotherhood.
Before Fang had the chance to speak, Norika butted in.
"The Brotherhood and considered religious zealots by the local Christians round here..."
Fang and the other Knights looked behind their shoulder pads and at the locals. The barman clearly had the look of disgust on his face.
Fang huffed, "Zealots, hey?? Hmmm..."

No, no , no

The Brotherhood wouldn't be considered religious zealots in TC. In fact, the Brotherhood would have contributed to factors involving the building of such structures as bars and prostitution centers, that would have been regarded as 'slanderous' in TC. So Brotherhood and TC relations are basically one of distrust. Also, NCR has little or no contact, as does VC. Perhaps the only city with even a bit of contact could be Darwin City, from old Wasteland.

RE: No, no , no

OOC - Ingnore my last post then. I take it you're including Wasteland background into Fallout? If so then I can stake my claim that the Rangers were the last remnants of the Desert Rangers, which I've always wanted to do but was afriad people would be against the idea.

"The Brotherhood are considered martyrs out here..."
Fang and the other Knights looked behind their shoulder pads and at the locals. The barman clearly had the look of disbelief on his face.
Fang relished the thought, "Martyrs, hey?? Hmmm..."

OOC - I was thinking of having some underground religious sect in TC, like a common enemy to the citizens of TC and the wanderers (I, myself etc.).

RE: Fallout... Wasteland? OOC

OOC:Well Wasteland did have some relation to Fallout but is it part of it's history.....I'm unsure.

IC:
Norika: Yup Martyrs. I've known that from the constable handbook.

Fang: You're a constable?

Norika: Well yes. But becareful, there are some religon extremes and they take those non-religous or other religon believers as enemies. We constable are having trouble in handling them too.

Fang: I see.....so we better not be so "attractive".

Norika: Clever. Basically you guys just prevent the Churches, the town hall and thats ok. And Cougar, that refres to you too.

Cougar: Whatever.

Computer crashed

After I tried to fix a problem with my DSL modem, I caused my whole computer to crash. So, my computer time is cut down a bit due to the fact I can't use my own computer and have to use the living room computer. Oh well, Yamu we'll have to plan more efficiently.
