Ultimate Collection patches

I have an Icewind Dale Ultimate Collection purchased in Europe (Sweden to be precise), and it has a patch/manual cd with content for other Interplay RPGs, including the Fallouts. I was slightly intrigued to see that the patches included on this disk are 1.1 (US) for Fallout 1 and 1.02 (UK) for Fallout 2.

It would be interesting to hear from people who own the Fallout UC, both in the US and in Europe:

* Which version number the games are before patching.

* Which version number the games are after patching (if needed).

* Whether you have kids in either game.

Hmm, okay.

United States.

Fo1 v1.1 prepatched. Also has previews of other crpg games by Interplay. Yeah, got kids.

Fo2 v1.0 patched 1.2 with official patch. Added encounter booster patch, from NMA. Yeah, got kids.

FoT unknown off cd, patched to 1.27.

Oki. It would be nice to hear from someone about the European edition since this is literally the last piece of info I'm waiting for before releasing version 1.1 of the Fo1 guide.

Is it just the ultimate collection or would the Radioactive box set be of interest to you? As far as I'm aware they're pretty much the same except for packaging.

The UK version has Fallout 1.2 pre-patched no kids.

Fallout 2 1.0 no kids but with 1.02e UK patch on the cd (as well as Baldur's gate and PS:T patches).

Plus the Radioactive bonus disc has patch 1.1 for Fallout, go figure.

I guess things would be the same for UC, then. It's a bit odd that Radioactive and UC both seem to be European releases (UC being the successor of Radioactive) while on Amazon US they only have a Fallout double pack sans Tactics. I wonder why they hold on so tightly to the delusion (for these games but not others) that they can't sell games with children in Europe.

Yeah it's most odd, especially considering the kids in JA2 which you could target and kill. Perhaps it's due to the child killer perk? Killing kids in JA2 was purely accidental and as far as I can remember there's no consequences to it but in the Fallout games it's actually desirable in some circumstances. Maybe that's why?

Don't think that can be it. The Bible said something about the Fo1 developers being divided among those who thought you shouldn't be able to kill kids, and those who thought you should but also have to face the consequences, and hence the birth of Childkiller. So at least originally - by the developers if not the publishers - it was meant to be "negative".

Netherlands.

Fallout 1 Version 1.2 after I installed it. No kids.

Fallout 2 Version 1.02 after applying patch that came with CD. No kids.

Thanks, that settles that, then. And the presence of the 1.1 patch on the patch cd remains, like inertia, a mystery.
