Unable to blow open a door with explosives ?

Since i have a pretty decent "lockpiker" in my team i never bothered using explosives until i came across the bos bunker! I used about everything i had to blow open this "F#&%* tin box but once the smoke cleared !?! not a single scrath. So my question is are explosives useless in the game for such purposes ? do i have to find an electronic lockpick ?!
Oh by the way i ve seen somewhere that you could find a Lewis MkII machine gun as well. As anybody found it yet? and where ?

I am assuming you are talking about the special encounter bunker with the two guys standing outside? First off, you can't get inside no matter what you do. Second, explosives only work on a few door types and I don't think there are many of them in the game.
