Whenever I run undat on master.dat
it keeps saying
"unpacking "" [0 Bytes] ... OK."
and it persists for however long it takes me to get impatient and close it down.

What'm I doing wrong? Am I supposed to use the master.dat on the cd? because I installed it the full thing and I'm running it on the one on the hard-drive.

It should work. Do you have enough hard disk space? Also, do you have enough memory ram to run it? It has a bug were it doesn't "flush" the buffer, and then it accumulate unneccessary memory and then it crashes. Possibly that could be the reason.

Maybe it's because you have Master.dat, but I'm not very sure.

Why you don't try downloading ResDAT from http://www.pipboy2000le.f2s.com/, home of The Mod Squad.
It has a GUI, it's faster than UnDAT, and it doesn't have extraction bugs. ;-)

I mean that it should have worked the way you did.

And I mean... You have Master.dat with the read-only attribute on.

Man, in what I was thinking?

I think I know now
is it only supposed to work with fallout 2 ?
because i was tryin it with fallout 1

I feel like modding it, I tried with red alert but gave up on it, but I'm very enthusiastic about this.

to extract files from Fallout 1 DATs, you may use F1UnDAT, you can download it from the same url ;)

At the moment DatMan can't read F1 files, but we plan to extend its capabilities.
