After having some minor problems, I decided to un-install and re-install Tactics.

After re-installing i receive the following messages after choosing "Play Fallout tactics" from the menu screen.

C:\dev\phoenix\font\font_manager.cpp(41) **Fatal Error** failed creation of font: font_normal (and the following after it)

Runtime Error! Program: C:\PROGRAM FILES\14 DEGREES EAST\FALLOUT TACTICS\BOS.EXE

Please anyone i need your expertise.

Thanks,
llyrad

I have been getting this same error. I tried installing from a pre order copy.
i am running Win98 2nd ed. pIII 933, 256 megs RAM, Nvidia Geforce2 video card.

Is there a fix for this problem?

A Solution!!! YES A Solution(perhaps not for modem users tho

I have finally managed to find a solution to this rare but annoying problem that prevents playing FOT on some machines. I also got that same "C:\dev\phoenix\font\font_manager.cpp(41) **Fatal Error** failed creation of font: font_normal" error after aplying all the patches and everything, with all install sizes and different driver combinations. To the point now. The error is caused by a corrupted resource file gui_0.bos in the core directory under the fot directory. I found this out when trying to get the game working I tried the FOT booster program that does something to the resource files speeding up the game. That program could'n process the gui_0.bos file so it had to be corrupted I thought. So I used Direct Connect(a file sharing utility much like Napster or Kazaa or... you know) to get the resource file from a user who had shared his whole fallout tactics installation directory. I actually noticed that most of the resource files, half of the movies files and all the music files where corrupted also. So I had to download some 500 MegaBytes of those files to get the game working.
So it seems that some game cd:s out there are really fucking SERIOUSLY corrupted.
If you can download several hundred megabytes from the internet this IS a working solution for you.
