To all of you complaining about unkillable quest NPCs.

Go to My Documents\My Games\Fallout 3 and open Fallout.ini

Search for "bEssentialTakeNoDamage" and change the value to 0.

Enjoy escorting your Dad to Rivet City.

I kinda messed up the story and found my dad before finding Rivet City, so that wouldn't work for me.

Nope, you can't fast travel with Dad. He just stays behind for some reason. I guess he prefers random encounters to fast travel :)

In some other quests, though, such as Trouble in Big Town, you can fast travel with the people following you.

Which is probably the reason why you can't with Dad. You're following him, not the other way round.

You can tell your dad you'll meet him in Rivet City and he'll be there after you fast travel there, though.

Also, of course, you'll probably break your game by disabling this since the game isn't made to react to the death of key NPCs.

Does this make children killable?

I wonder if a death animation was even made for the kids and still buried somewhere deep in the game but later scrapped or if it was never created to begin with?

I didn't think the deaths were scripted animations. They look like the physics-based deaths to me. They probably have some sort of script that makes sure kids are always invincible to cover themselves when someone mods them to be killable. That way they can say that killing them was totally not in the game.

They wouldn´t do that after Oblivions rating change because of a nude skin textures found in the files.

These "nude textures" didn't even have nipples. They were as offensive as a naked barbie doll.

I fast traveled, and then waited for him using the wait command. So yeah you don't have to escort him at all.

I think the point is that, because he actually manually crosses the distance between those areas, he could get killed off. I believe this would happen to certain master skill trainers in Oblivion who were in wilderness cells and were not tagged essential.

wait a minute... are you trying to tell me that toy stores sell dolls that can be made NAKED to innocent children?

:p

It would be much simpler and better to just make the "blank screen" thing, when you have to go to RC with your dad, and then it will teleport you to the RC.

Just like in previous Fallouts.

There is one. In the computer simulation you play yourself as a kid. And you could die, ofrexample if you attack Betty or Doctor. Or get acidently roasted by the Mr. Gutsy (but you will not die completly, you just respawn after deathsequence)

Anyone tried ^ + kill on kids? Sadly even that will not get you past Little Lamplight.

I really hate this point of the story. You wear Power armor. Probaly also plasmaguns or heavy weapons. Clover to.

And this little faggot treathens me? Hey a bunch of raiders. Ok. Dens are easy denfendable. And the kids could hide ok. But threaten me with a assaultrilfe? common. He wouldn't probaly injure me.

Redesigning Little Lamplight as a mod would be my primary goal as soon as a CS is active.

You need a code to open the vauult back entrance. The kids sealed it up because they are afraid of the supermutants. One of them knows the code. Only the major knows who. So the player could choose.

Get their friendship via the Paradise Falls Quest. Update this quest os you could buy ALL kids from Eulogy. There is hardly an nonviolent option.

Threaten your way in. Just a few bad karma options. Maybe you need -600 karma for trying.
For example say you would sell their location to eulogy jones/ set fire to anything. (you could always sell them after they let you in)
If you choose so expect some traps and some kid looks out of hole shoots and hide back situations, shortly something injuring/weakening yourself.

Good karma+ strengthcheck: Ask them to take care of the supermutantproblem. They could even offer you a reward. You're not allowed to do bussiness in LL but they escort you throught the den.

What this setting/cvar does is disables NPCs from being "knocked unconcscious" to prevent death. All the NPCs with this protection are targetable and damageable, they just never die. Turning the protection off will only allow you to get these NPCs past unconscious and to permanent death. Feel free to prove me wrong if children are attackable, but I highly doubt one boolean toggle will allow it.
