Using Gametap's version of FO1, where are .sav files?

MisterAndy

First time out of the vault
I recently, after not having played Fallout 1 in ages, decided to re-install it. I searched for a while, and couldn't find my CD. (oh no!) Luckily, Gametap lets you download Fallout 1 for free (Yay!).

Here's my problem though: Gametap doesn't install the game with the normal file hierarchy that the FO1 cd does. I can't find any .SAV files, which means they are undoubtedly hidden within some other file. *sigh*

My question for you is: Where does Gametap's installation of FO1 put save files??

any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S.
It shouldn't matter, but I'm running XP pro SP2.

P.P.S.
When you install their FO1 game, the likely filepath to the game is
"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\GameTap\games\000587850"
Although I'm not sure if the "000587850" is always the same

EDIT: please note that I did look at unDat and similar tools to try to unpack the game files, but to no avail. They all said that they "didn't support this file type." (...the extension was .dat, but sure; we'll go with that. >.< )

I purchased the Fallout Trilogy for the simple reason it's now vista compatible, thought I'd revisit it since F3 sucks big fat donkey dick! That said, I've been attempting to use FALCHE editor like I did so many years ago, and while I can find the saved games (SLOT1 etc.) it simply won't detect the saved file even though it's there. Guess we're in the same boat, mate.

Maybe someone from the community could shed a bit of light on this subject?

Isn't Gametap's file system encrypted? I think the SAV files are put in that virtual encrypted filesystem... you probably cannot get any access to it. Part of the protection that Gametap uses to prevent anyone from copying game files if you quit paying for your account.

Hmm... In this case Gametap's release is unmoddable and unpatchable. And should be signed as depreciated.

Buy Fallout from Good Old Games the next time (cheap, DRM free, guaranteed to work under XP and Vista, post sale support, etc.).
