What is use of gas damage protection if there is no such weapon in game?I heard that some grenades do gas damage but after little experimenting i discovered that was not true.

So environmental armor is pretty useless because it gives almost 100% resistance to gas. I understand thats why it takes away 1 perception( because you wearing gas mask).

Useless, only if you also consider the Power Armours useless, since they also give protection against gas. Yes gas weapons were left out though the damage type is still there if people want to mod them in, but that doesn't make the armour useless. The environmental armours have the highest radiation and poison protection as well as the second best fire protection and while they have low armour class, of the brotherhood armours they have better damage thresholds and resistances than the leather and metal armours.
