Van Buren random encounters

Where'd That 6th Toe Come From?
In a thread about a completly different subject JE made a rather interesting comment about random encounters in the game:

<blockquote>
there should not be endlessly replenishing streams of bad guys in random encounters. If you have ten encounters with Enclave troopers in four squares of the map, you should be able to call it a day and never worry about those guys again.
</blockquote>
It's not a major issue, but still is interesting.

It sounds very strange to me though. If Enclave lost all patrols in particular teritory they would be interested in finding out what is going on and they would bring whole army to do this. Therfore this area would become more dangerous than before.

And here is a good field to use high outdorsman skill ----> wandering through wasteland unnoticed wont bring attention of enemys and saves much effort. Otherwise provoking them by "pirating" around some place would sure piss them off making travels very unconfortable.

Such thing would be a good idea with wild animals though.

hrm... when i hear this, I think of other games that don't have a world map and in those cases, this makes sense. Like I hated when I would play Wizardry 8, and the bad guys constantly respawned on the world map. I loved Might and MAgic 6 where when you killed all the bad guys, they stayed dead for 6 months to a year. However, I don't know if this would work good in Fallout where a world map is used rather than general traveling.

The reason for this is, when would a person be wandering through those same 4 squares over and over again? When he WANTS to encounter enclave patrols to gain some xp and equipment. So by eliminating there numbers, wouldn't that essentially ruin this idea?

On another note, semi related to the person above me... incorporating the idea of your character encountering tons of patrols on his way to navarro might make navarro more alert for an intruder than the stealthy outdoorsman who avoids all the encounters. That might be a way of making that skill more useful. Idk...
