Vault 15 problem

First time out of the vault
Hello
I am haveing a problem with the entrence to vault 15 i got the shock key and i use it on the door but it doesnt do anything and when i touch it i get zapped:| i am just wondering if the shock key is even the right key? if it is and i got a bug or something let me know but if it isnt just say "no keep looking" or something like that since i prefer not to be told the answer:)

The key you have is for the shack nearby the V15 entrance. To enter the Vault you must get past the two silver armored raiders and use the key on the door inside. After freeing the girl talk to her mother in the tent and find a guy named Zeke. He will give you the red keycard used to open the V15 door.
