Vault Vehicles

First time out of the vault
I was sittin here eating my chips when a thought struck me, why are there no vehicles in the game fallout think about it all the vaults would of had atleast a car or sum form of transport so that after the war they would be able to travel easy i mean they had all kinds of other things so why not vehicles to get around. All other government bunkers and stuff have them big huge warehouses full of cars. can anyone explain why not even if they just have a hangar bay full of them just cant use them cause no fuel or somethin but still have a reason why not

Clever thought indeed. I guess they had no fuel for so many cars anyway? Maybe it was done so because it would be more dramatic if there were no working vehicles or the Enclave wasn't planning to let them out of the vaults anyway?

yeah but a place like vault 13 which could open its doors when they wanted to could send out vehicles and the car could run of micro fusion cells like the highwayman did. its just a thought. i don't think the enclave would care if a bunch of people were cruising the wastelands haha

There have been millions of posts on this subject. We do have a search function.

You know, the whole reason that the nuclear war started in the first place was because there were no more conventional fuel supplies. No more oil. Hence, no more functional cars.

Hence, creating additional storage space for something that's never going to be usable since there's no oil isn't exactly something you want to be spending money on.

Not to mention that civilization was supposed to be rebuilt centering AROUND the Vault, not away from it. Just look at Vault City, Vault 8 power generator is it's main power supply. It's a prime example of how civilization was supposed to be rebuilt from a Vault.

So why is there gonna be so many exploding cars in Fallout 3? (besides the fact that Bethesda is made of a bunch of fuckwits)

Edit:

What about bicycles? :P

Unfortunatly. Anyway, if there'd be another source of fuel for cars there'd be no war, so I don't get it how was the Highwayman's achievment ignored.

Good idea. They last for decades with good maintenance, and can carry surprisingly large loads. No fuel needed, and replacement parts are fairly easy to fabricate.

Why not? If I had to live in a vault I'd do that all the time every day till I die, because life in a vault is pointless anyway. And check out some footage from the last 100 years.
After bombings etc. the first thing you see when the situation calms down is people on bikes. I shit you not.

Edit:

Another major advantage of a bike is that you can just pick it up and carry it over some obstacles. Saved my ass from the cops once, when I almost got busted doing grafitti. :to-be-young-again:
