Vault Dweller

How about being able to choose the race of your hero. Think about it, you could start off in a different place for each race, have different motives, stats, etc. E.g. a mutant will have a naturally high strengh and Hp, but slightly lower Int, has to pay say twice the amount for some armour cause it needs to bee XXXXL sized. Ghouls could be totally immune to radiation but have a poorer Hp total and have better night vison (they glow in the dark) - but so do the enemy after all you are glowing. And so on.

The ghouls actully have a high HP, just check Lenny. I don't think you should be able to be a ghoul because they've been around since the war and there's NO way that you could Interplay could create a storyline where that fits in. You should be able to take "Super Mutant" as a perk. Your Intelligence and Charisma are lowered but you can have 15 in Strength and Endurance.

Super mutant perk? I wished that one was in FO1. I'd love to see the look on the overseer's face if you took that perk and returned to te vault to bring the waterchip! :)
Come to think of it it WAS in FO1. Too bad the game ended when you were dipped.

It could be a real nightmare if super-mutants could wear power-armor...

There wouldn't be any to fit them...so that wouldn't be a problem...

Hehehe, I'm guessing he meant trait and not perk, although I could be wrong.

It would be fun to play one, except; to become a super-mutant is to cut yourself off from humanity. You not going to be accepted, and it wouldn't surprise me if mobs chased you out of town.

Better Night vision?

How about that. Looking from light into darkness is a lot harder than the other way around. So glowing would in fact make a ghoul an easier target, good luck to you.

Given the inclination, the Brotherhood of Steel as they were in FO1, could easily develop a suit to fit a Super-Mutant.

This is a good idea but first you must create the storyline that would enable it. Maybe you could have the "chosen one" live in and save a multicultured village this time. That would kill the whole descendent of the vault dweller thing though.

Power Armor

I don't think so. I took it that the BOS upkept the pre-war tech; but they couldn't create new things. I could be wrong.

Then again, I can't imagine the BOS befriending a Super-Mutant. Shoot-on-sight sounds more like what would happen.

RE: Power Armor

Might not shoot on sight after all, Broken Hills was founded by a super mutant and a BOS knight.

The other race characters could be decendents of party members the vault dweller had, eg. the super mutants is marcus grandchild, etc.

RE: Power Armor

Yeah, but I don't want the timeline for FO3 to be after FO2, or more than 20 years after FO1. I can't imagine a super-mutant rising in the ranks of the BOS to the point where they make some power armor for him.

Yeah I ment it as a trait. People don't chase you away just because you're a mutant just check Broken Hills where muties and normies live in peace (well maybe not). Places like Vault City maybe wouldn't like you but you could do a quest maybe save the first citizens child or something like that and they would accept you. Or atleast don't shot you at sight. As I see it Marcus wore some kind of leather armor in FO2. Maybe you could have some of that. And you maybe can't have advanced armors but you'd sure have a high DR to everything and you could were Metal and Leather armors if you have someone to modify them a little. There could be a guy in some town who could build you new armors if you brought him regular ones (and payed him a small fee of course).

Uh, the Vault Dweller was in FO1 but I like that idea. I like your idea to Dr Frog. wanna play Frog baseball. Yeah huhuhu. You Suck.

"Places like Vault City maybe wouldn't like you but you could do a quest maybe save the first citizens child or something like that and they would accept you."

And then people say, "That evil mutant was going to eat the first citizens child, let's kill him!" Then you have a mob on your hands, and your only option is to run and never return.

Being a mutant isn't practical, and it requires alot of extra programming. I mean, c'mon, in FO1 nowhere would they have let a mutant walk amoung them. He would've been attacked at the gates.

I don't think anywhere (except Broken Hills) in FO2 would've let a mutant walk inside the gates. Regardless of whether they let Marcus go inside.
