Two things.

1) Interplay says "Fallout 3 is...a product which we MAY choose to develop IN THE FUTURE". Now, seeing as there is an overwhelming desire for Fallout 3, the quickest route to Fallout 3 is to convince Interplay of its financial viability- after all, that's how they decide whether or not to make a game- if they think it will make money. Thus, we must convince Interplay that there is a HUGE fan base out there who would all rush down to the store and buy their game. How do we do this? Simple, we communicate our desire by posting endlessly on their message board, sent them tons o' email, and generally let them know what the public wants.

2) There is an RPG coming out in the fall called Arcanum, created by some of the Fallout 1 & 2 team. It looks pretty cool, and it will contain a lot of the gaming goodness that made Fallout 1 & 2 so cool. Its role-playing system looks familiar, as does its perspective and how it handles NPCs and the like. There will also be multiplayer and real time combat. This should be a good test to see if real time combat works with a Fallout-like role-playing system and guns 'n stuff. There will be magic, tho...

It's not necessary. Black Isle knows there is a huge fanbase and Fallout 3 already is a fact. The only question now is WHEN it will be made. And I personally don't want Black Isle to rush anything. If you don't believe me check out the FO3 board and look for a message titled "F3 will never be made". There's a response by Scot Warner from BIS there that takes away all doubts.

I know. Arcanum looks to be very good, but still the multiplayer has made me a bit sceptical. I have yet to find a CRPG with multiplayer capabilities that I really like.
