Vista Stuck in Main Menu...

Installed Humongous installation patched it but I'm stuck in the main menu.

There, when I press "New Game" it does nothing.

It only fades away and fades immediatly back to the original Main Menu screen giving me all the possibilities allover again...

Pls some help, I'm a fan who didn't play in 5 years and I heared this site/forum is top notch!!

What version of windows are you running? Also what patch have you installed?

First obvious suggestion is to re-install, but make sure your using the official patch and see if that works.

Windows Vista Home Premium

Installed Humongous installation and compatibilitymode Windows 98/Windows ME.

Maybe I'm doing 'something wrong' in installing the patch, I really don't know

Fallout 2 Patch 1.02d is installed.

The strange that I can say aswell is that Nero Showtime has automatically linked(by extension) the .dat files

I erased Nero Premium 7 totally but still the files wear the symbol of Nero Showtime, maybe it has something to do with this...

I remember i had to muck around with installing the patch on my install, because vista is 64x i had to extract the files then dump them in the directory. But i didn't have to run it in 95/98/me etc compatibility modes.

I would say the .dat files are just being picked up by nero because of the extensions, so i wouldn't worry too much about that.

Re-install the game without the patch, check if it does the same thing. That will determine if its a problem with the patch or not.

Also make sure you make copies of the original fallout.exe and any other files that will be over-written by patch files so you can revert back without having to re-install.
