Wanna get into modding

RoCkEr93

First time out of the vault
So I want to start modding fallout(1&2) and I want to know which tools I need and what tutorials should I read to get started and familiarize myself with them.
So if someone is kind enough to give a list from A to Z on what tools and tutorials I will need to get started I will be very gratefull
Thank you

Best is if you start low, set yourself a realistic goal. For the start, you could try to alter an already existing map, learn how to place items there, maybe even how to make a building in placing walls, tiles and so on. You could also try to change some NPC stats, or learn how Ammo can be edited, or new inventory art items can be built upon. If you are into scripting, you can also look into some existing scripts, try to learn the syntax and maybe even compile a simple script and see if it works. Only thing you shouldn't do right from the start is planning some big mod, start with smaller steps.

Even though this thread: http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7158 is a bit outdated, the tutorials should still be spot on.
The wiki http://falloutmods.wikia.com is also a good spot to learn the ropes of modding.

Good luck and have fun (that's the most important thing) ;)

I'm not thinking of going big and exagerate,I just want to learn the basics of making a building and adding diferent things in it and maybe in the future making actual maps, just for the fun of learning some new things while I still can

I'm recommend you modding FOnline. It's new, better versions of Fallouts.

I wouldn't neccesarily say it's better, it's just different and more "open". ;)

Well, it's easier to work with in most areas. If you want to script something, you'll need to have some higher coding experience, though. Unlike in Fallout 2.
